Armed robber took reward for booty recovery

RODWELL Bovell (no address given) has been charged with robbery under arms and corruptly taking a reward to help recover stolen property.

He appeared before Magistrate Bertlyn Reynolds yesterday and was put on $20,000 after pleading not guilty.


Particulars of the offences Police alleged against Bovell said:

* he was armed with a gun on September 15 when he robbed Mumtaz Ali Mohabir of $520,000 cash and a cell phone, making a total loss of $541,000 to the victim, at Diamond, East Bank Demerara and



* on September 16, at Camp Street, Georgetown, he took $3,000 cash from Rahaman Sawh to recover the cell phone stolen from Mohabir.

The case has been transferred to another Court for October 17.
