The kidnapping
of Khan, seemingly done with the collusion
of Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago, should have been a
matter of urgent business before the meeting of Heads of Governments
presently taking place, a meeting that incidentally our President did
not attend because he has to campaign for re-election.
Guyana 's President should have been at that meeting to roast the
balls of Trinidad and Suriname for the actions they took in relation
to Khan.
If the government is disowning Roger Khan as a child of Guyana it
should come out and say so outright.
If the position of the PPP Government is that it wants nothing to do
with Khan, it should at least have the courage to step forward and say
to the Americans, the Trinidadians and the Surinamese that they could
do whatever they want with him.
In short, if they have disowned Khan as a citizen of Guyana they
should state so but so long as they have not done this they have an
obligation to offer specific but limited assistance to him, the same
as they would afford to any other national.
But to behave as if they are unconscious does nothing for this country
or for the rights of all Guyanese. The government should awaken out of
its self-induced coma and act in a responsible and professional way.
