What’s
the GHRA’s agenda?
THE
PNCR's opposition to `Operation Stiletto’ is
understandable - armed banditry or not, Buxton is
their power base so one has to forgive them.
But
the Guyana Human Rights Association (GHRA)! Their
behaviour is scandalous and extremely unpatriotic!
To
write that the Police action was only meant to
pacify the President is an extremely mean shot,
something that would never emanate from any
reputable organisation.
When
the President speaks, he does not speak as Bharrat
Jagdeo but as the leader of the people of Guyana.
That is who he is, if GHRA likes it or not.
Two
more Indo-Guyanese were recently killed in Buxton.
Has the GHRA said any thing of this? No.
Who
really are these people? What is their agenda?
Crime prevention surely isn't!
Those
murdered and robbed in Buxton are not entitled to
human rights. (Let's not forget that many
Buxtonians themselves have been killed by these
gangs).
If
my community was inundated with murderous
criminals and the armed forces were there to flush
them out, I would give them my fullest support;
sure search my house (if I have nothing to hide).
If
the Police take me in for questioning, I'm
supposed to understand that it is all in the best
interest of my village. What's a little
inconvenience in the interest of peace and
stability? (If that's what I want.)
One
has to really ask, do Buxtonians really want a
crime-free village? It doesn't seem so; not with
gross incitement from `talk show’ people and
tacit encouragement from the likes of the GHRA.
One
only hopes that the Police Commissioner has the
guts to stand by his strong words and is
determined to do his job and not just please the
President.
Peace unto our beloved land.
