THE FAMILIES AWAIT WORD
Yesterday, the family of Hardat called ‘Jogie’ of 126 Narine Street, Annandale, sat close to the telephone, willing it to ring. “We move de phone from top to bottom and keeping it close to we”, Hardat’s brother, Khemraj told this newspaper.
He added that although the Police make
regular checks with family members, the situation
concerning the missing men remains the same.
“They ain't tell we nothing new up to
now,” Khemraj said.
At the home of Sookram Dhanai at 70 Non
Pariel, his wife, Padmowattie, continued to mourn
his disappearance. She said that the family
refuses to believe that something has happened to
their loved one and they are still hoping that he
is alive.
On the morning of September 24, the two men
failed to return home after leaving for work the
previous day.
The mysterious disappearance of Dhanai, 45,
and Hardat, 53, comes four months after two other
GUYSUCO workers, Sampersaud Taranauth of
Enterprise Maikhram Sawh of Non Pariel also went
missing.
A joint service team comprising members of the Guyana Police Force and Guyana Defence Force has been searching the Lusignan backlands and surrounding areas for the men since Saturday.
