Heavy
rainfall and gusting winds struck the city just before noon
yesterday, flooding yards and streets, and sending businessmen
scurrying to their stores to see what they could do to save their
goods from the water. On many streets floating islands of garbage
could be seen, evidence that we are still not disposing of our
waste as we should.
The
heavy winds came from the west, driving rain into homes and other
buildings from an unexpected angle.
The heavy shower lasted for about forty-five minutes.
