Driver waylaid at Bee Hive, robbed of $250,000

Two men, one of whom was armed with a gun, on Thursday robbed Roopnarine Deenanauth of Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara, making off with a quarter of a million dollars in 'fish money'.

According to a Police press release yesterday, Deenanauth was driving a canter truck towards the Bee Hive foreshore to buy fish when one of the suspects hit him on his head with a bottle. The man stopped his vehicle and the suspects stuck him up and robbed him of $250,000 cash. They fired two shots while making their escape, Police said.
