US
Embassy should release name of PNC/R member
Monday, September 19, 2005
President
Bharrat Jagdeo, at a recent press conference said that the PNC/R
has approached officials at the United States Embassy, indicating
that an Interim Government should be put in place because GECOM
will be unable to hold elections by the constitutional deadline.
Since Guyana is a sovereign State, the U.S Embassy should release
the identities of those who are attempting to curtail the
democratic process and create confusion.
The issue of an Interim Government being installed, or elections
being held within the constitutional time frame, is strictly a
matter for the legal system and the people of Guyana to decide.
The U.S Embassy should refrain from being involved in such
matters.
