Victoria Group has a large interest in Gum Arabic, which it exports to the extracting markets of Europe and India. Victoria has been consistantly been a partner in this area and has supplied high quality products.

Victoria Impex (India) is one of the branch located in Mumbai, India. This branch is the processing unit to ensure that the quality of the Gum Arabic exported is uncompromised. Optical rotation of Gum Arbic Grade I is -25 to -30, our quality inspectors maintain a strict vigil on the quality of Gum Arbic being exported.

PROCESSORS : The complete process of all natural gums right from raw stage to the final product is done inhouse on state-of-the-art machinery supervised by proficient personnel. We also employ manual labour as part of certain specific processes for which to-date machines are not available anywhere in the world. Our plant, machinery and process is approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration Authority of India).

GUM ARABIC

PROPERTIES OF GUM ARABIC / ACACIA

SOLUBILITY : Can yield solutions upto 55% concentration. Note that Gum Arabic is truly soluble in cold water.Other gums are either insoluble in cold water or form colloidal suspensions, not true solutions.

VISCOSITY : A 20% aqueous solution will give less than 100 cps, i. e. Gum Arabic is not very viscous at such concentrations. High viscocity is obtained only at concentations of 40-50%.

FILM-FORMING : Gum Arabic's super film-forming properties make it ideal for some confectionery coatings & lithographic plate solutions.

EMULSIFIER : Gum Arabic produces highly stable emulsions making it very useful in the preparation of oil-in-water food flavour emulsions, particularly for citrus oils.

COLOUR : Colourless (top quality) to pale straw colour (average quality)

TASTE : Gum Arabic has no off - taste. The taste of flavoring products with Gum Arabic is not affected or dulled by Gum Arabic.

FIBRE : Gum Arabic can be regarded as 95% : soluble fibre according to some of the available test methods.

CALORIE VALUE : Officially recognized in the U.S.A. as being under 1 Kcal per gram. However, recent research points to values of 3-4 Kcal/gram, the value appointed by the joint FAO/WHO Expert Commitee since its inauguration. On going dicussion & research continues on this subject.

CHOLESTEROL REDUCER : Human dietary intake studies have indicated a reduction in blood cholesterol levels when above average amounts of Gum Arabic(25 grams per day) are ingested in solutions.

TOXICOLOGICAL STATUS : "ADI not specified" ( JEFCA + EEC ); "Generally Recognised as Safe" (GRAS) (USA).
