Colorado scored two quick goals less than five minutes into the first period on Friday evening, but it took a Chris Drury goal with under a minute remaining in the first overtime period to beat Dallas, 3-2.
The Stars inched back into the contest after the Avalanche's fast start with one goal in both the second and third periods by throwing an avalanche of shots at Patrick Roy. The Colorado goalie finished with 43 saves.
Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals will take place in Dallas on Sunday afternoon on FOX.
