We traveled from Guandjou to Peking via Shanghai. I am from Belgium and we say that love goes trough the stomach. Well let me tell you than a secret about China. The Chinese food you eat in the Chinese restaurants all over the world is an interpretation. It is not what the Chinese eat ! The food in China was dreadful ! I like Chinese food ... but in China we went to the Italian restaurants. Do I have to say more ? Who for gods sake, chops a chicken with the bones IN it ? And than comes the complete impossibility to communicate in this country. Not only speaks Nobody not a single word of English. Words like: hotel, stop, yes and no, go, etc FORGET IT! But to make things more exciting you have that wired thing with names. Because a westerner can anyway not reproduce a Chinese name, the Chinese give the hotels also an English name. For example the ngai shitoooatoo hotel, names itself also "Pacific Luck Hotel", but don't say that to a taxi driver... China is not very exotic and the people are not very friendly. The south however is very ... hot and moist, with that smell of mould in the streets. After 3 weeks we called it a day. It is not really the country where we are dreaming of going back to. And, oh yes! No we are back in Cairo, we realy love to go to the Chinese restaurants again.
