John MacGregor

John was born in 1814;  married on 28 Nov 1840, Lucy Ann Whitman.  Lucy was born 18 April 1823 the daughter of Charles Whitman. John was listed in the 1871 census as being born in Nova Scotia, a baptist, of Scottish ancestry. Their children were listed as:

(1)  George John; born 8 September 1841; married on 1 May 1867 at Nictaux, to Ruth Baker of Wilmot, aged 26, daughter of Parker and Caroline Baker, farmer, Baptist.  However George was listed alone with his parents in 1871.  George married (2nd) on 17 April 1872 to Louisa Van Buskirk, aged 20, daughter of Johnston and Susanna Van Buskirk, farmer, Baptist.  Louisa was listed in the 1881 census as being of German background.  Their children are listed as:

        (a)  Jessie M.;  born 28 March 1873

        (b)  Harriet M. (Hattie); born 28 December 1875

        (c)  Claud; (twin) born 21 April 1879 (not listed in 1891 census)

        (d)  Clara S.; (twin) born 21 April 1879

        (e)  Sophia; born in 1880;

(2)   William A.;  born 9 August 1843; died 14 May 1844.         

(3)  David E.;  born in 1846; married on 25 May 1874 to Hattie Wood, (born 27 May 1845),         In 1871 census he was listed as a farmer and a resident of South Farmington.  Their            children are listed as:

        (a)  LeRoy; born 11 May 1881.

(4)  Rachel M.;born 10 April 1847; married on 14 July 1883 to Aenon Baker, a merchant with residence in Boston.

(5)  Annie M.;  born 24 November 1860.

(6)  Livinia Ellen;  born in 1852; married on 27 January 1874 at Nictaux to Willard Parker Morse, aged 23, a school teacher born in and resident of Bridgetown, Anna. Co., son of Abner and Sarah Morse.
