judiciary will not engage in political factionalism ---------------------------- tehran, aug. 17, irna -- new head of the judiciary ayatollah mahmoud hashemi shahroudi said here on tuesday that per recommendations of the leader of islamic revolution ayatollah ali khamenei, the judiciary will not enter into any political factionalism. addressing a ceremony to introduce new head of the judiciary and bid farewell to the former judiciary chief, hashemi said that during his tenure he plans to employ expertise of experienced judges in his short-term policy makings and to remove present judicial problems by adding new articles and notes to current judicial laws. easing or removing problems facing the laws on public courts, distribution of responsibility among judicial branches and coordination in the judicial system, constant supervision over performances of judges, campaign against corruption, establishment of judicial police, restructuring of judiciary's administrative system, establishment of mobile courts, removal of formalities, and timely dissemination of information would be among short-term plans of the judiciary in the future, he added. praising services of his predecessor ayatollah mohammad yazdi over the past 10 years in the judiciary, hashemi said that judiciary is undergoing its experimental stage but there is a long distance ahead fore realization of a pure islamic judicial system. prior to hashemi's speech, ayatollah yazdi said that iranian judiciary is today highly developed, powerful and prestigious and enjoys services of independent and competent judges. majlis speaker ali-akbar nateq-nouri, first vice-president hassan habibi, head of the leadership office hojatoleslam mohammadi golpayegani, a number of cabinet members and majlis deputies, commanders of the law enforcement and armed forces and basij (volunteer), heads of justice departments in various provinces, a group of judges as well as state and military officials were present in the ceremony. bg/rr end ::irna 17/08/99 17:38 NAMAA NEWS
