ONE CAMERA - HUNDREDS OF USES
on a single web page. But suffice it to say, any observable
temperature differential may lead to diagnosis of problems in a
host of situations. We'll rent our cameras to electrical
contractors, facilities managers, energy service companies,
aerospace, mechanical contractors, plant engineers, original
equipment manufacturers, food industries, warehousing, electrical
testing firms and the like.
A standby generator that is running hot may have a partially clogged
radiator. Or no clogs at all as is evidenced by the sample
picture shown above. (OK, so it's really the owner's Jeep Grand
Cherokee, but you get the picture!)
Temperature differential in heating or cooling apparatus is often the
target of an infrared inspection. A quick look tells the
operator just where a thermal delta exists, where a clog
restriction may have occurred, etc. Uh, do you see a potential
restriction or a potential lack of flow in the picture just above?
Let's face it. If you are on your toes, you sometimes will be
looking for a "cold" device, not a hot one, depending on the
mission or the expectations.
This photo shows an overly warm circuit breaker in a small panel in
an equipment overhaul shop. It's not all that hot, mind you.
And you might infer that the breaker has contributed to the
heating of surrounding devices ... or not. But if the breaker is
lightly loaded ... and it looks that hot just by comparison to
other heavier loaded devices, wouldn't you want to investigate
further? The next step might indicate that it's not exactly the
breaker itself, but something else contributing to the thermal
differential that you are seeing. We'd be glad to discuss such
topics with you when you rent our infrared cameras.
OTHER APPLICATIONS
While our camera is on site at your facility, you'll probably think
of other opportunities to find warm problems before they become a
thermal crisis. Sometimes, it's as easy as just panning a location
and asking yourself why things look the way they do through the
generous viewfinder on the back of our IR camera of choice.
