SRCSD held it's annual "Hot August Nights/Cool August Mornings AHBA-sanctioned Herding event on August 5 & 6, 2006. Beasil earned the first leg of her HCT, and showed how nicely she's maturing. She was controlled kept the stock together without putting too much pressure on them. Thanks to Laura Noll for handling her!
And Beasil's cousin Mack (Double Take's Flight leader) and Jeremy earned both legs of their JHD -- way to go!

Best Friends!

Onyx and Beasil playing together

Beasil and Onyx are inseparable buddies. One of their favorite games is "cowgirl rides the bull", a kind of Rottweiler Rodeo. Or Bull chases cowgirl. They are agile, quick, and tireless!

Fun in the Sun

 October 1, 2005
Beasil was entered in her first show, the ARV Southwest Region Sieger show in Claremont, CA. The judge, Guy Verschatse of Belgium, awarded her a VP2 rating in the 6-9 month puppy bitch class. He commented that her temperament was excellent, stating  "She is attentive, friendly, and nothing bothers her."

B and her siblings were born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2005. What a gift!
Her family can be seen on the Rosewood Rottweilers Web Page at: http://www.rosewoodrottweilers.com/

B's sire and dam have been successful in many working venues. We are having so much fun watching her little mind, showing what her interests and instincts are.

Thanks to Sandy Kinsman for this little treasure.
She's more fun than we planned on!
Can we just retire and play now?

Going Tracking

Our First Time @ 14 Weeks

dscn6664.jpg

B seems to have inherited her mama Shelby's nose. From early days in the whelping box she showed great facility with that sense of smell.

Our first outing to the tracking field was on Wednesday, May 25, 2005. We started with a scent pad peppered with treats. Her response was curiosity. The second scent pad was familiarity. By the time she got to the third scent pad she was eager and when encouraged to investigate the steps leading forward she just switched on! By the forth step her nose was just 'hoovering' like mad. (Sandy was standing about 15 feet away and remarked "Listen to that...!")
We're looking forward to many more adventures.

Working girl at OB class

After finishing their puppy kindergarten class, Beasil and her sister Mitzi enrolled in a Novice Obedience Class. At the first class the instructor was a bit shocked at how well they both did.  "Has anyone here had training before? I thought so -- it shows!"
Way to go, girls.  = )

At 13 months Beasil is even more excited about tracking. We've begun to include turns, serpentines, and she just 'hoovers' her way through them! In a few weeks the dirt field that we've been using will be planted with corn, so we'll take the next step and switch to grass/mixed cover.

What an adventure!

Stay tuned for more as she grows....
We'll post updates more regularly on our blog:
