Batting
BATTING AVERAGE
1. Reps .360
2. Chips .314
3. Maids .312
4. Powers .306 (last in batting average and won World Series, back-to-back seasons)
The Reps finally broke the Powers' stronghold on the regular
season title by winning the pennant race. This was the league's
most competitive season ever, as all four teams were 7-7 through
14 of 18 games. The Reps and Powers each won three of their last
four to earn World Series berths. The Powers became the only team
ever to appear in four consecutive World Series. With a 10-8 mark,
they also became the best team ever over any four season stretch
(45-23; the Seasons 5-8 Reps were 44-24).
The World Series pit the best offense (and worst pitching)
in the regular season champion Reps against the best pitching
(and worst offense) in the two-time defending World Series champion
Powers. Analyst Jak Myers, would inherit the James Maids in the
following season, warned that good pitching always beats good
hitting.
The Reps took a 2-1 lead in the Series, but then Myers was
vindicated. Powers pitching allowed just one run in the Series'
final three games to take the Series, 4-2 and win their 3rd straight
championship.
