1. William Rittenhouse b. 1695, Cressham, Germantown, Philadelphia,
PA, m. abt 1719, Catharine Howell, b. abt 1696, Philadelphia co., PA,
(daughter of Daniel Howell and Hannah Lakin) d. 1778, Prallsville,
Hunterdon, NJ, buried Prallsville, Hunterdon, NJ.  William died Aug
1767, Prallsville, Hunterdon, NJ, buried Fam cem, Prallsville,
Hunterdon Co., NJ.  William moved to New Jersey ca 1730.  He may have
married first ca 1719.  An abstract of his will, found in "An
Ancestral Chart and Handbook - Genealogical Notes of the Sutton and
Rittenhouse Families" by Rowland, 1935, mentions sons William, Peter,
Isaac, Lot, widow Catherine, Moses, dau. Priscilla's heir William
Search, daus Susannah, Anne, and Hannah.  Witnesses:  Edward Prall,
Malakiah Bonham, Lot Rittinghuysen.  William and his wife are buried
east of the Prallsville stone quarry, with graves marked by W. R. 1767
and C. R. 1778. Catharine: Catherine may have been William's second
wife, married ca 1730.  Other researchers, among them Kephart, state
that Catharine was his first and only wife.

             cites Bible Records of James Search (LDS Microfilm
             862,024, item 6, third of three Bible records) showing
             Christopher married Priscilla.

             of her father.

Hunterdon co., NJ, (daughter of Cornelius Quick) d. St. Clair co., IL.
 William died St. Clair co., IL.  William is listed in his father's
will. Canzady: Canzady and William Rittenhouse had five children.  One
was Elijah Rittenhouse who was b 13 Feb 1788.  William went from
Panhandle of W. VA. to St. Clair Co. IL and settled on Silver Creek,
while his uncle Elijah lived on Turkey Hill in St. Clair Co., IL.

4. Elijah Rittenhouse b. abt 1745, Amwell twp., Hunterdon, NJ, m.
abt 1774, Sarah Quick, b. 1751, (daughter of Cornelius Quick) d.
Turkey Hill, St. Clair, IL.  Elijah died Mar 1831, Turkey Hill, St.
Clair, IL.  Elijah is listed in his father's will, Peter Rittenhousen,
NJ Archives, Abstract of Wills, 1791.  The family moved to Illinois in
1806, settling in Turkey Hill area of St. Clair Co.  Elijah served in
Stokely's Rangers from PA during the Revolutionary War.  His will was
probated 19 Mar 1831, St. Clair Co., IL and lists heirs.  From New
Jersey, Elijah settled in what is now Hancock co., WV in the
"Panhandle."  Before the state lines were definitely settled, he
believed he lived in Pennsylvania, hence his joining Stokely's
Rangers. Sarah: The records of of Brook county, West Virginia
(formerly Ohio Co., VA) show a lawsuit of Jonas Seeley vs. the heirs
of Cornelius Quick, in which the children ofCornelius are named.  The
suit mentions John and Thomas (Tunis) and five of the daughters,
including "Sarah (Quick) Rittenhouse, wife of Elijah."

William Hill, b. 23 Sep 1793, PA, (son of Jonathon Hill and Ruth
Maple) d. 1 Jan 1859, near Freeburg, St. Clair, IL.  Sarah died St.
Clair co., IL.  In 1998, Jeremy Vogel noted that although proof of
this marriage has not yet found, William Hill's wife Sarah's  birth
date was given as 5 Feb 1786, which matched Sarah Rittenhouse's.
Further, Jeremy's family has a book printed ca 1750 that is signed
William Rettinhouse - presumably Sarah's father.  Further, William and
Sarah Hill named their second daughter Canzada, presumably after
Sarah's mother.

deceased (1831), with Cornelius' son, Cornelius, as an heir.

          iv Canzada Rittenhouse b. 1812, m. 1 Nov 1835, in St.
             Clair co., IL, Amos T. Barker.  Known as Zada.  She was a
             member of the Baptized Church of Christ Friends to
             Humanity at Belleville Baptist Church (First Baptist
             Church) in 1831. Amos: Surname also given as Baker.

             Cornelius died 10 Mar 1881, O'Fallon twp., St. Clair, IL,
             buried Badgley Cem, St Clair twp, St Clair, IL.
             Cornelius' probate record from St. Clair co. lists
             daughters Ageline Clark, Felicite Ebert, Dida Rutherford,
             and wife Eve or Eva Badgely.  Administrators of the
             estate were Albert Ebert and William J. Rettinghouse.  He
             is buried in the Badgley cemetery across from the Baptist
             Church on Drake Road in Fairview Heights. Eve: Eve and
             Cornelius were married by J. Pulliam.  In 1880 Federal
             Census of St. Clair co., IL, she is living with Albert
             and Chalista Ebert and is blind. She is buried with her
             husband behind the Jennings house, across from the
             Baptist church on Drake Road in Fairview Heights, IL.

             served in the Black Hawk wars and spent his last years in
             a soldier's home in Illinois.  He is buried at Quincy.

IL, buried Rittenhouse Cemetery, St. Clair Co., IL.  Probate of estate
in St. Clair co., IL names the following children:  Elijah (deceased),
James (deceased), John, Sarah Jane (married to David M. Howell), and
Leonora (married to Thomas J. Gaskill).  Executors:  brother Elijah J.
Rittenhouse and son John Rittenhouse.  1860 census T1S R8W, p. 33,
shows the following people living with him:  Leonora (24), Wm. T.
(21), Chas. (19), Jos. (5), and Loretta (1).  Sarah M. McDaniel is
also living within household. William and his wife Rebecca are
contained on the Members List for the Baptized Church of Christ
Friends to Humanity at Belleville, St. Clair, IL, now known as the
First Baptist Church.  The list was drawn up in 1831.  He and Rebecca
were dismissed by letter in 1846.
