Private and Group Lesson Information

Students receive a private lesson once a week.  Group lessons also meet weekly, alternating between playing in a group and playing in quartets. In the private lesson, we learn the basic technique of playing the violin/viola and in the group lesson, we learn how to play with other people.

I have observed over the years that students who come to the group lessons move more than twice as fast than if they just take private lessons. The quality and fluency of their playing increases by being in groups and listening to the tapes and CDs.

Location

I teach private and group lessons out of my home in the downtown Bellevue area. Students come from Bothell, Woodinville, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah and Renton.  I commute once a week to teach private lessons in Carnation. Students come from Carnation, Duvall, Fall City, and North Bend. Students taking private lessons in Carnation need to be able to commute to Bellevue for the group lessons.

Tuition

Tuition is charged on a quarterly basis: September, December, March and June.

30 minute lessons $400

45 minute lessons $575

60 minute lessons $750

There are no tuition refunds. See Attendance.

Recommendations:

Young students usually start with half-hour lessons.

Older children or Book 2 and above students usually take 45 minute lessons.

Adults have 45-60 minute lessons.

Partial scholarships are available for students that have financial need.

Performances

Approximately 4 concerts a year are given in various locations in order to be fun for the kids; for example, the Winter's house in Bellevue, the Bremerton ferry, a local farm, and other colorful locations.

Contact Information

All students who wish to register should come to watch a lesson. I usually choose a student of a similar age and ability level to be observed. This gives prospective students and parents a chance to see how I work with students. I want you to be assured that I am the best teacher for your child.
