Artist/Band:
Tippin Aaron (Aaron Tippin/Thea Tippin)
Song:
Love Like There's No Tomorrow
Album: Stars and Stripes
Right now I'm gonna take you in my arms
Hold you closer and tighter then I ever have
I'm gonna say all the things that I thought could wait
Now I realize that later could be a little too late
Baby let's love like there's no tomorrow
Live for every moment
Laugh at least a little every day
If we see the sunrise in the morning
Is impossible to say
So let's love (Let's Love)
Like there's no tomorrow (No Tomorrow)
Today
From now on every time we kiss
It's gonna mean so much more when I touch your lips
When I give myself to you, baby I won't hold nothin' back
'Cause there's nothing I wouldn't give to make every minute last
Baby let's love like there's no tomorrow
Live for every moment
Laugh at least a little every day
If we see the sunrise in the morning
Is impossible to say
So let's love (Let's Love)
Like there's no tomorrow (No Tomorrow)
Today
Baby let's love like there's no tomorrow
Live for every moment
Laugh at least a little every day
If we see the sunrise in the morning
Is impossible to say
So let's love (Let's Love)
Like there's no tomorrow (No Tomorrow)
Today
Oh baby let's love (Let's Love)
Like there's no tomorrow (No Tomorrow)
Today
"Let’s
love"
After exiting the hospital room, Nathan ran into Buck and JD on their way
up to see the team’s sharpshooter.
"How’s he doin’ Nate?"
Buck asked as he came to a stop in front of the Medic.
Nathan glanced back toward the door he had just closed and then shrugged
his shoulders. "Can’t say
for certain. He’s got a lot of
healin’ to do." He moved
past them toward the elevators and shot back over his shoulder in a quiet voice
"Got to wake up first."
JD stood looking at Buck’s back and wondering why he didn’t just go on
in to see Vin. He started past the
other man when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
He turned questioning eyes on the big man and waited to see why he had
stopped him.
Buck was replaying the bust in his mind and how Vin had gotten hurt, the
reason he was laying in that bed on the other side of the door.
He was worried, more worried than he’d even been about Vin and that was
saying a lot considering the multiple times the other man had been injured.
This time he was sure Vin was a gonner, the shot, the fall and the
stillness after it all happened. He
could still see Vin as he grabbed his chest and fell forward.
Buck remembered thinking, "How the hell did that happen?
Where’s his vest?" and then Vin had hit some crates that were
stacked high. At least that had
broken his fall to some degree.
The worst was they couldn’t get to him for the volley of bullets they
were dodging from the bad guys. Finally
it was over and Chris and Buck reached Vin at the same time with Nathan and the
other right on their heals.
Buck saw the blood and moved to allow Nathan in to help, feeling like he
was just in the way anyway. He
watched as Nathan ripped open Vin’s ATF jacket with one of his knives only to
find that his vest was in place.
Buck looked over at Chris, both thinking the same thing "Cops
Killers" the very type of ammo they were trying to get off the streets.
One had gone in at an angle high up in Vin’s chest, but that was not
what had them worried. It was the
blood pooling at the back of Vin’s head where Nathan found another wound, one
that occurred when he hit the floor.
Buck was jerked back to the present as he heard JD call his name.
"Damn Buck, what’s going on with you?’ JD was not patient at the best of times and right now he
wanted into that room to see Vin, make sure his self that his friend was all
right.
"Sorry Kid, just woolgathering, lets go."
Upon entering the room they found both Chris and Ezra there.
Chris was dozing in one of the chairs his head lolling at an
uncomfortable angel. Ezra was
talking softly to the sharpshooter, Buck had a moment of joy before he realized
that Vin wasn’t talking back.
He quietly moved up behind the undercover agent and was not surprised when
Ezra didn’t startle when he put his hand out to touch Vin’s covered foot
brining himself into view of the other man.
"Mr. Willimgton? Perchance
did anyone think to alert Ms. Harris to Mr. Tanners predicament?"
Buck couldn’t process most of Ezra’s words on his best days and today
was not what he would call a good day. "Let
me get my dictionary Ez and I’ll" He was cut off as the man in black that
had been sitting in a chair spoke up.
"I called Brooke and left a message ‘bout an hour ago."
‘Oh! Shit, I forgot, somebody better go pick her up, she aint’ gonna
be able to drive over here safely." Buck
started toward the door.
"Josiah’s on it." Chris
offered as he stepped up to Vin’s bedside and looked down at his best friend.
Brooke stepped out onto the balcony of her rented apartment and looked out
at the night sky. She came in from
work, stripped and showered and now was watching for Vin so they could have
dinner and spend some time together. She
was dressed in one of Vin’s t-shirts that drooped off one shoulder and a pair
of short shorts and the night air was cool, but she knew that with the arrival
of her man she’d get warm quick.
She was startled to see Josiah headed her way and then became concerned
when the wave she sent his way was met with only a grim nod of his head.
The big man’s shoulders were hunched and his body language spoke of
stress and upset.
Brooke ran to the door, golden hair flaying around her shoulders and her
hands shaking as she reached for the handle.
Only one reason she could think of that Josiah was here and Vin was not
and that was that Vin couldn’t be here himself. It was as she stepped back to let the profiler in that
she noticed the light flashing on her phone.
Josiah watched as a mired of emotions played across the face of the young
woman in front of him. Knowing that
his presence would automatically alert her that something was wrong.
Before he could say anything she spoke.
"Just tell me, Josiah. Is
he alive?" Hope shown from her green eyes as she looked up at him.
"Yes." And he felt lifted somehow by the ability to say that to
her at this moment.
"Then all is not lost." He heard her mumbled to herself as she
slipped on a pair of sandals and made a grab for her purse passing him as she
went toward the door.
He just followed her out into the night and headed for the hospital.
On the way he explained to her how Vin had gotten hurt and what he knew
of his condition.
Her only response was.
"He’s a Tanner with a hard head.
He’s going to fine Josiah."
The big man knew that she said it just as much for his sake as she did for
her own. Vin was a lucky man to
find a woman strong enough to handle the day to day stuff that came along with
loving one of the seven.
Vin was in a world that flashed lighting quick between darkness and light.
Flash’s of his old life came and went shrouded black, pictures playing
out as if on a screen.
With the light came what he thought to be his mother, the other six
members of the ATF Team and Brooke.
The picture that was playing now was the first date.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They had met and had talked about many things although there were things
in his past he would not talk about to anyone.
Things best left alone, but he shared with her more of himself then he
had with anyone. They build and
intimacy along with a deep attraction that Vin was ready to act on within the
first few hours of meeting her.
But on their first official date Brooke had opened up to him about herself
and that changed things for him. Growing
up he never had anything that was truly his but his body, and hearing from her
that she was a virgin moved him in ways that he was hard pressed to explain even
now after 6 months together.
She told him of her close relationship with her mom and how they would
talk about anything and everything. She
lost her parents when she was 19 to a drunk driver and she was an only child of
an older couple.
She seemed to expect him to tell her goodbye since she was not ready for
sex but he respected her more. She
stated she had no objections to pre-marital sex that didn’t have anything to
do with her maiden state. Brooke
explained to him that her mom had told her that she would know when she was
ready and to make is special. She
wanted her daughter to have good memories of her first time with a man she cared
about.
She had dated and had boyfriends but as she got older the dates didn’t
go anywhere as soon as she explained she would not sleep with them right away
and why. No one ever took the time
to get to know her, to let her come to a point where she was ready.
She was always up front with the men she dated so when expectations where
not met, there wouldn’t be any unnecessary anger.
Chris and JD moved quickly to Vin’s bedside when he started to move.
They watched as his eyes fluttered beneath his closed lids.
Chris reached out to place a hand on his upper arm and squeezed lightly,
hoping the prone man would feel his presence.
JD pulled up a chair and sat down on the opposite side just as Buck and
Ezra came in with Coffee with Nathan right behind with a couple of bags of what
looked like greasy fast food.
"He started moving." Chris stated and threw a hopeful look at
the Medic.
"That’s good Chris." Nathan stated with a small smile and took
his place on the empty bed across the room.
"Anybody heard from Josiah an Brooke?" Buck asked the room at
large.
"He called a bit ago, they’ll be here in about 20 minutes."
Chris offered and then went back to his chair coffee and a burger in hand.
Vin was in darkness now, memories of his time in foster care and then on
the streets flashing until Brooke stepped into his line of view and all went
light again. Now he was with her at
her apartment the first time they’d made love.
They had been sitting on her couch watching TV and Vin called it a night
and turned to kiss her goodbye, when she had laid her small hand on his chest
and simply said "Stay"
He didn’t question her; no words were needed as he took her in his arms
and held her against him. He knew
this was a big step for her and he was proud that he would be her first and the
way he was feeling maybe her last.
Brooke was not really nervous; it wasn’t like she didn’t know what was
going to happen. Just because a
person had never tried something didn’t mean they didn’t know how it worked,
so she led him to her bedroom.
After they took their time undressing each other and was in bed, Vin was
very much aroused and had to moved away from her to slow down the pulsing of his
own body, so he could make sure that she was ready.
He worshipped at the altar of her body, kissing and nibbling from head to
toe. He brought her to orgasm that
first time with his mouth and hands and then held her as she shook in his arms.
He then moved over her as he spread her legs with his knees and poised at
the untried entrance of her body. He
looked into her eyes asking if she was ready and receiving her reply in her
kiss.
His first feel of her was of heat and moisture and she gripped him so
tightly, she shifted when he butted up against the thin barrier that prevented
deeper penetration. He wanted to
look into her eyes when he took her for the first time but he wanted her mouth
as well.
He settled for a brief kiss and then pulled his head back to lock his eyes
with hers as he shifted back a bit and in one long smooth motion seated himself
to the hilt inside her. She closed
her eyes against the brief flare of pain and then they were moving together
searching, reaching together for an ending to this age-old dance.
Afterward she lay curled in his arms and they drifted off into a contented
sleep.
Brooke flew into the hospital room startling all within into motion.
The men settled when they saw whom it was that went to Vin’s beside and
bent to place a kiss on his lips before taking his hand in her own.
They watched as she spoke softly to their friend and was pleased to see
that although her voice shook a bit she held her emotions in check.
She turned to Chris and asked, "Can you get me a radio?"
"What?" Was the response from several of those present.
"I had a friend in school who was in a comma from a head injury, the
doctors seemed to think that the sound of voices and music could reach
them." She turned back to stroke Vin’s locks away from his forehead.
JD jumped up "I’ll get it"
Vin pulled himself toward the voices that he heard or what he thought were
the voices of his friends.
Right
now I'm gonna take you in my arms
Hold you closer and tighter then I ever have
I'm gonna say all the things that I thought could wait
Now I realize that later could be a little too late
He heard the radio playing softly as he came to awareness and a soft
feminine voice signing the words along with the radio.
Baby
let's love like there's no tomorrow
Live for every moment
Laugh at least a little every day
If we see the sunrise in the morning
Is impossible to say
So let's love (Let's Love)
Like there's no tomorrow (No Tomorrow)
Today
He opened his eyes to see those of his lovers above his own.
He gave her a smile and reached one hand unsteadily to cup her check
"I love you."
Brooke couldn't help the tears that fell at hearing those words. "I
love you too." And she kissed hips lips softly careful not to disturb any
of the hospital equipment.
Vin recovered fully and is currently back to work.
He spends time with his friends and his love and enjoys life to the
fullest. His favorite song is Aaron
Tippin’s Let’s Love Like There’s No Tomorrow as he can feel that song to
his bones.
The End
