"Tofu Turkey"
It was the weekend before the Thanksgiving Day holiday and Buck Wilmington was spending the Sunday afternoon at Violet's house enjoying an early Thanksgiving meal before she headed out of town for the holiday to her parent's house. Per her instructions, he brought the wine and cranberry sauce and she was preparing everything else.
He showed up at her doorstep with a twinkle in his eyes and a smile on his lips while holding the bottle of wine and can of cranberry sauce. "I've got the two most important ingredients of the meal," he stated when she opened the door.
Violet laughed softly as she took the two items from him and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Come on in," she said. "Dinner is almost ready." Her beagle puppy, Watson, barked excitedly at Buck's arrival and the big guy leaned down to give him a couple pats.
"Excellent!" replied the ATF agent as he rubbed his hands together. "I'm starvin'."
"Well, why don't you open the wine while I put the finishing touches on the meal?" she suggested and Buck nodded agreement.
A few moments later Buck was seated at the beautifully decorated table as Violet placed two plates filled with delicious food at each sitting.
"Everything looks delicious," commented Buck as he smiled.
"Thank you," replied Violet as she took her seat. "I hope you like everything . . . I tried some new recipes."
"I'm sure I will," replied Buck as they both began to dig in.
Buck took a huge bite of the turkey and paused in mid-chew. Something wasn't right.
Violet had been watching the ATF agent closely, waiting for a reaction. She smiled as she said, "Do you like it? It's tofu turkey."
"Tofu turkey?" repeated Buck with a mouthful of food. He was afraid to swallow because it tasted so bad.
Violet nodded as she swallowed her bite of tofu turkey and then said, "Oh, I forgot the salt and pepper" as she got up and headed to the kitchen.
Buck looked around frantically for a way to dispose of the tofu turkey, finally deciding on spitting into his napkin. "Honey, this is great stuff," he commented loudly for her to hear as he tried to feed the rest of the tofu turkey from his plate to her dog, Watson. Unfortunately Watson wasn't having anything to do with that fake meat. "Ahh hell," muttered Buck as he watched Watson leaving the dining room with his doggy bone. He frantically looked for a plan B but unfortunately she returned with the salt and pepper so any chances of getting out of eating the rest of the tofu turkey ended right there.
"Here we go," she said as she smiled sweetly at him.
"Thanks honey," replied Buck as he picked up the salt and began generously dousing his tofu turkey with it. Maybe that might help the taste. Unfortunately it didn't.
Violet smiled sweetly at him as Buck chewed slowly and then swallowed. "Yep, this is great stuff," he added.

It was later, the meal was finished and Buck and Violet were seated on the couch enjoying their glasses of wine. "Thanks for coming over today to celebrate Thanksgiving with me early."
"Anytime," replied Buck. "It was my pleasure. The meal was delicious."
"You don't have to lie," replied Violet as she grinned at the ATF Agent. "I know you didn't like the tofu turkey."
"Well, it was . . . different," replied Buck who was trying to be diplomatic about the horrible tasting meat substitute.
"What if I make it up to you?" she asked as she smiled mischievously at him.
Buck raised an eyebrow. "What did you have in mind?"
"This," she murmured before she kissed him . . . her lips covering his for a deep, long kiss. He slipped his arms around her, pulling her closer to him as he took over the kiss . . . his lips thoroughly exploring her sweet depths until she was breathless and wanting more.
When they finally pulled away, she asked, "Are you ready for dessert?"
"I thought that was dessert," replied a grinning Buck.
