How we all got here...
My earliest ancestors came from Kent. From the early 1500s they worked on the land or by farming in the Elmstead area. My branch left the land about 1870 when my 2 x Grandfather became a stationary Engine Driver in a brick field. My Grandfather Albert Stephen became involved in the electrical industry about 1905 but also appeared in the music halls as a speciality clog dancer. He also had a brother who was a comedian, stage name Frank Lee. My Grandfather met his wife (Ada Knowles) at the Halifax Hippodrome Theatre when they appeared in the same show about 1900.
My Grandmother was a soprano singer who, after marriage continued to sing at services in the local Methodist Chapel until she died.
