Tara resides in
Brooklyn with her four adopted dogs and five
rescued cats. She has been a student of animal behavior for all of her life and her goal has always been to work with animals. Tara has a Bachelors degree in psychology and a Masters degree in social work and is a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker. She is currently employed as an administrator working with young children with developmental delays and their families, although her passion and expertise lie in behavior management and modification. Through dog training and behavior, she has found a way to incorporate her skills and education with her love for animals.
Once Tara adopted her first puppy, she investigated trainers before she even brought the puppy home. The training experience was so enjoyable that Tara decided to pursue dog training herself to assist other people in having a similar experience, in addition to having well-behaved companion animals. Tara enjoys helping to bridge the communication gap between dogs and people and enriching the pet-owner relationship.
Tara has attended many seminars, including Vollhard's "Train the Trainer"
conference and has served as an intern at the Animal Behavior Center of New York, where
she was previously employed as an obedience instructor and also as an instructor of future dog trainers.
Tara is active in the rescue of animals (dogs, cats & small critters) and is on the board of K9Kastle, a nonprofit animal rescue organization. She also volunteers her services and provides free problem solving advice to those who have adopted a pet from various rescue organizations. |
