MY FAVORITE SOUTH TEXAS SITES

Don Taylor's Passenger Train Site

I met Don thru Rail Spot email group. He is also from Conroe, Tx. area. We have happened upon each other out on FM2854 West of Conroe chasing the same train or at the interlocker in downtown Conroe. Don lived many years very near MP66? on BNSF Conroe Sub. Now Lake Conroe is home. I have linked to his MKT site because I like the Katy. But Don's site is spell binding with sections on the Missouri Pacific,KCS Southern Belle and many more. His pages have personal pictures, memories, and excellent scans of everything from timetables to Advertisements from his collection. Don lived this era.

TOMMY SHULTS SIDETRACK.COM

Tommy is a train enthusiast! He lives in Flatonia, Tx. On the famous "SP" Sunset Route. Now when I say lives on it, I do mean lives on it! I mean it is his side yard! And only a 1/2 block from interlocker of UP's Glidden and Flatonia Sub(Renamed Cuero Sub in 2006?). I met Tommy via phone thru a friend of his in RockPort, Tx. Fred, the owner of Rockport Hobbies.

I finally got to visit with Tommy back in March 2001 and no finer gentleman is there. By the way he's got the keys to the preserved Tower #3 in Flatonia. So when you visit his site, just launched April, 2001, email him if you'll be in area. I bet he would proudly show you the Tower and the plans for Rail Fan Park in Flatonia. Great photos of AMTRAK, UP, TFM all who send probably total 50 trains a day thru the interlocker.

ANDREW D . HUDANISH'S "HOUSTON'S PREIMIER RAILFAN PAGE"

Andrew's page was the first I found about Railfaning in Houston. Probably August 14, 1999 about 10:00PM, 2 hours and 36 minutes after I became what turned out to be passionate Railroad Fan. Some ( My Wife) may say fanatic!!
Andrew being an Union Pacific Dispatcher has his own passion for Railroads from a professional as well as hobby perspective. I met Andrew at The Great Train Store I beleve at first while he shopped as many UP as well as a few BNSF employee's did! Have since seen him at Gulf Coast Chapter NRHS functions as well. A true gentleman & Railroad Professional. Loves and owns a couple " Speeders" too.

STEVE SANDIFER'S HOUSTON RAILROADS 2004

Mr. Sandifer has the most extensive information I know of on Houston's Rail System. It was a link on Andrew's Site that I used a lot when feeling my away around Houston. He posts very informative and helpful messages on Railspot@yahoogroups.com.
