Savard and Therrien in Trouble With Colin Campbell

National Hockey League executive vice president Colin Campbell will have an in-person hearing on Thursday with Montreal GM Andre Savard and head coach Michel Therrien after their outburst after the end of the Canadiens game against the New Jersey Devils Tuesday night.

A suspension is a possibility, albeit a long shot; a fine would appear to be a virtual certainty.

The Habs were upset when they had a goal disallowed for goalie interference in the first period against New Jersey.

Later, the Devils scored the winning goal when Montreal netminder Jeff Hackett was knocked down by Devils forward Jeff Friesen, who passed the puck to Joe Nieuwendyk for an easy empty-netter with Hackett still down and out.

Canadiens coaches and officials screamed at referees Kerry Fraser and Tim Peel as they walked off the ice after the game. Savard had to be physically restrained from going into the officials' dressing room, according to security officials at the Continental Airlines Arena.

When reporters walked past the officials' room to the Canadiens locker room, there were six security guards outside the door. Normally, there are one or two.

``First of all, we believe we got robbed,'' Therrien said. ``There is no doubt about that.''

Fraser stood his ground.

``There may be a misconception that goalies are protected everywhere on the ice, that they can't be touched,'' Fraser said. ``That's a fallacy.''

Hackett refused to talk to the media after the game, but Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur said he would have been upset had it happened to him.

``If it happened to me I wouldn't be too pleased,'' Brodeur said.
