The march of computing has entered directly or indirectly at all fields, whether at banks or railways or fast food centers touching our lives leaving the trails of past calmful life to a standstill spreading its effect. A few are spared from its charm but not the new generation!

A student life is a lifelong process educating and experiencing the ways surging ahead towards the road to path of success. A learner in school cannot ignore information super highway track as he is in risk being less effective at his pace in future times ahead the advance technological century. Kids need to realize the use of Computers and so do the teachers. It is a challenging task for a teacher to educate the kids as they themselves need to keep pace with the Changing times. Information, Education and Entertainment themes on the computers can actually be a tool to be Aware, educate, inspire, motivate and encourage the teacher as well as the pupil, together striving to climb the ladders to reach the successive goals. The ‘Operation Knowledge’ schemes can boost the Teacher-student power with the ‘Teach the Teacher-Kids’ Programs making Computers and Internet a compulsory medium and forming ‘SMART’ Schools teaching skills and value based education side by side Schools can direct to social learning & attitudes in the use of machines. Nevertheless a status symbol, info tech learning proves a challenging force with endless learning themes yet be specifically aware that computers do prove a poor second in primary educational levels where the base is to be built strong with the reading, writing and understanding skills.Creativity too demands attention as in music. painting or crafts, directed teaching, learning and exploring is quite obvious rather than turn to the machines.

The gray haired wisdom ‘Old is Gold’ is thoughtful concern but in fact this argument becomes weak with the existing Changing trends. It is required to use ‘brains’ rather than tools for thinking. The imagination power should run riot not only on machines but also in the process of thoughts. Machines should not become a stumbling block. A myth exist that more you remember, better your memory power whereas with the changing pace, the more you are aware, the more better your understanding levels. At some stage, Teachers usually like o use the self-perpetuation model of teaching. Children are not allowed to know more than their mentors do or even to question in earlier times but ‘New is Diamond’ – Teach a child to answer and he learns, Teach him to question and he finds the answers, Show him the problems and he finds the solutions. In the process, the mentors learn too! Schools are prone to convert new technologies to replace the old ways for better development. Old is Gold and can be very well blend with New is Diamond, an advance pace towards learning using the old and new methods.

Schools have the major power of influences on the growing generation. They are better equipped and can provide better facilities like the Library and the reading follow ups. They have the purchasing power of new multimedia titles and can flourish creativity.Schools can act as source of total Awareness programs with various projects covering old and new methods. Story telling, painting, debates, recitations or the like are necessary so is the School projects on net like connecting to other schools children making e-pals and E-mail interacting with them sharing and exchanging culture, indulging in constructive chat forums or exposing creativity, writing talents and designing school web sites or homepages should be geared towards ‘Awareness’ Programs. Children Movie shows on regular intervals, Reading and Book review system etc. are the less applied methods in schools and as such, the generation with the changing trends falls towards television shows, movies, computer games and net surfing with some teenagers accessing to Internet emailing, chatting or surfing endlessly with no proper adult guidance as the rates slashes day by day. As a fact, ‘The Good, Bad and the Evil’ would be the next generation swinging with high jinx, Mood swings! Hence, the Schools, Teachers, Parents and students require the well ‘Awareness’ programs to build the mental attidude in the right direction. In short, a curriculum should be adopted for both growth and modernization.

It is the major role of schools ‘Changing lives with Changing Trends’ There has to be a change in the curriculum. A group of persons including Educators, Parents, IT gurus and Administrators need to sit down together and frame the curriculum alongwith the Information Technology policy for the school. Electronic media has stepped into all sectors like banking, web tv, video conferencing, tele commuting and so on. Teachers are no more ‘fountainheads of learning’ but ‘facilitators of learning’ adopting the method ‘ I learn, you learn, we learn’ system increasing the abilities of her learners in her care. The teacher would need to center the classroom on student questions and investigations with ‘You tell, I listen and I tell, you listen’ wise ways. There should be an IT Coordinator to guide the technology ways, a trained staff to record information database of students, staff, books, multimedia softwares, use of material in curriculum, content writing. Creativity enhancing skills and provide opportunities for exposures. The examination oriented learning would reduce the interest levels too and hence, focus should be on what a teacher-child-parent learns in the process of learning before they leave the school. The medium of computer can be effectively used in many ways rather than just sticking to programming languages like the logo or the basics.

It is necessary to learn with experience and exposure by not classifying to learn ‘What’ but ‘How’ and this requires proper ‘Time Management’ Endless learning with changing trends demands proper time framing alongwith the three things to keep in mind – Money, Mental health & Material requirements. Free progress should be in a self directed process. Overloading the mind with too much memory oriented learning and formal writing can cripple a child’s sense of wonder and hence, providing Alternative Education, a commitment, hard work, responsibility, learning the basic skils of reading and writing at own pace with creativity and open minds in open surroundings in tune to environment should be the first priority.
