One can never tell where his or influence stops" Shower of Roses to all Teachers...May the Roses never fade so that the sweet fragrance fills your heart with pleasure and appreciation that you bloom like a flower throughout the year and spread sunshine into the lives of children. Dr. Radhakrishnan said once "A good teacher must know how to arouse the interest of the pupil in the field of study for which he is responsible. He must himself be a master in the field of study and be in touch with the latest developments in the subject, he must himself be a fellow traveller in the exciting pursuit of knowledge"

HANDWRITING & YOU!
Watch out! Examination phobia grips frenzy in panic to answer all the quizzled questions that are asked from the extreme corners of the text book with faintest ideas that the question might be even asked! This is Examination, examining your wits, examining your memory power, examining your knowledge or one might say examing ones Luck. Moreover, the most boring part for some is writing. Who said Gandhiji wrote better? No, he didnt! He himself quoted "Bad Handwriting is the sign of incomplete Education" It is not a part to be neglected if you want to impress the examiner or the teacher who is going to correct your paper. Imagine the workload, the bunches the examiner has to correct and than, if your messed handwriting are fainting, scratchy and bad as ever, even though the answers are right, it might land you in trouble to score less marks. Examiners are not computerized brains but have to correct your answers manually, isnt this true? Well, whatever maybe the case, Your Handwriting is the reflection of your thoughts. It reveals your character. As said "Thoughts are formed with words, Words with letters, The melody of thoughts and words, combines to form handwriting with sentences." Good handwriting is easy to read, quick to write and good to look at. As studies show, Bad handwriting is the visible evidence of imperfect thinking. Difficulty in handwriting can hamper thoughts and limit fluency. Careless writing is a sign of discourtesy and disinterest making it an illegible scrawl, difficult to read. Hence, it is necessary to possess the quality of legibility, fluency and beauty. However advanced technology surges ahead, a quick handwritten note is always easier to pen down. Writing unhurriedly enforce discipline in ones thoughts. The simple rules for Better handwriting can be summed up as:
Be Legible : Write to be read
The prime purpose of writing is to read. It crystallize ones thought as a means of communication. The letters should be easily and accurately recognized. The message too should be very clear. Unreadable material cause strain to the reader, cause misunderstanding, delay and above all, leaves a negative impression on the mind.
Be
Fluent : Get the speed, dont be rough
It is necessary to write reasonably fast rather than snail writing. Writing skills need to be mastered as the written material in todays time has considerably doubled requiring more time and speed. Hence, write fairly quick but keep a watch that your handwriting is legible so as to be eligible. Writing should be with interest, pleasurable, without strain and written in a relaxed mood.
Beauty
: Be an Impressive writer
Beautiful handwriting impresses the reader. Be a beautiful writer as it is an object of admiration. It is a visual treat and feasting to the eye of the reader. It reveals personal taste and preference. Calligraphy or artistic handwriting is not required in day to day writing but simple, graceful hand written work is more attractive. It exposes clarity and is catchy to the eye.
There are many more factors for consideration for better Handwriting. The right selection of pen, pencil and paper, holding the pen, placement of paper, sitting posture, source of light, movement of pen, relaxed state of mind, right adoptive system of flow, etc are the few very important factors to be considered for handwriting. To sum up about Write Better in brief, a simple Free Soul tip "Open up and widen your doors of imagination" Think Fast, Be aware, Read and be literate, than you can write, Write better, Write fast!
HANDWRITING MYTHS
Handwriting : Large Letters indicate an outgoing, positive person, friendly, sympethatic and helpful. Large writing reveals an extrovert personality. Indicative of a restless nature and a lack of depth in thinking sometimes.
Small letters are produced by negative persons. They tend to be slow in responding to other peoples needs and feelings. Cold and logical, these people are likely to have a scientific bent of mind. Writing which is very small, almost difficult to read, reveals a highly introverted person. Inward looking and reserved, this person seems to be non communicative. Not likely to have close friends.
Medium size letters are produced by people of average tastes, accomplishments and abilities. Though they may not unduly exert themselves to help you, we find them easy to get along with. Practical, concerned with materialistic things rather than spiritual or aesthetic.
Letters of variable sizes represents an immature personality. Incapable of indecisive thinking and action, ready to believe others, tends to be self centred to the point of being childish.

QUELL THOSE BUTTERFLIES, CHASE AWAY YOUR BLUES
As Examination rolls down the sleeve, many Free Souls find their heart beats beating faster, stomach churning and in a panic to cover the entire syllabus within a short span of time. The last moment rush grips the mind with excitement or maybe stress, depending on the preparations and get ready to face the challenge of question papers. And than comes the biggest experience for some to fret having missed out a 20 mark Question. It is sheer regret and we can overhear many of the students blurring out their outburst saying Ah, I knew the answer but the time limit was over. Make sure, you dont land up in a soup just because of time limits. Here are some tips for most of you!
The
moment the question paper is handed over to you, be in a relaxed frame of mind. Close your
eyes for a while and cool down to calm down those quelling butterflies so that you can
focus on concentration.
Always be
sweet and cool headed at the centre, especially with the Supervisor. Your rapport with the
supervisor too is very important to sail off your examinations smoothly. A little bit of
irritation towards you by the Supervisor may also get you distracted, nervous and out of
mood.
Read the
question paper properly and thoroughly. Take your time so that you are aware of all the
questions put forth for you. This will help you not to miss the 20 marks too!
Select
the questions of your preferences first and number them out so that it is easier for you
to attend all the answers you know flawlessly.
First
Impressions are everlasting. Remember this. Neat handwriting, required margins, rough
formats should be paid attention. Untidy handwriting, ink spills or scratched word
frequency may really let down your impression on the Examiner as well as the Supervisor.
It is a
good idea to attend easier questions first and than sort for the difficult ones as you
tend to take more time on the difficult questions. This will refrain you from being
nervous. Also make you aware of time constraints for the difficult answers once you finish
the easier ones.
Leave the
objective questions for the end as they require less time and you dont have to do major
thinking. If you want to be happy contented, attend orally while reading the question
paper so as to jump start and boost your confidence.
Try to
finish answering the paper within the stipulated time. Leave at least 20 mins spare ahead
of the bell ringing to check whether you have answered all the questions and not missing
out any. Check your answers, spellings or other mistakes coolly.
Number
the sheets in order, tie the knots well, make sure of your seat number and also attach the
rough sheet last so as to be particular that your answer sheet is ready to be submitted
properly.
Lastly,
once you are out from the hall, do feel the excitment but be wise not to indulge much with
comparisons as it may either make you feel high or topple your spirits down low blowing
you out of your mind with mood swings affecting your next exam.

HOMEWORK HASSLES
Talk with a group of parents and undoubtedly one will find the inner details of educational upswing and off beat stories excitedly related, exposing the positive or the negative influence. In creeps the hassles of homework, tuitions and lack of time. At the end of the year as the final exams are at the corner, many parents too prepare for the herculean task of the most important word Examination and get time off their busy schedule to help their kids perform better and score percentage. It seems as though the children are in a rat race to score those percentages like precious gems and parents too feel the pride to count the scores. In the run, year after year, one overlooks the real value of education which helps the overall development of the child and make them intellectually capable to inherent knowledge. Many blame the educationist, some pour their outburst about the degraded education system and some are concerned with the homework assignments given by the school and tution teachers throughout the year. In some schools, children are beaten for neglecting homework, some school teachers give punishment to the children to write more than thirty-fifty times, a poetry not written or learnt by the class or make the child stand alone out of the class facing humiliation. As Bosky, a 9th std student says with malign feelings Our sir gave the poetry to write 50 times to the whole class. All evening I wrote for 16 times and finally in the morning, being the prefect was punished and I had to stand out of the class. I just boldly entered into the Principals cabin and told him that I am going home. All she harshly and rudely commented was They should know how to give homework! It is not a big crime for not doing the homework but emotion stirs up to find a child red with shame, humiliated when he does not do the homework and punished for this act. As Runali Shah, a 2nd std. student says, When I dont do my homework, our teacher makes me sit in the corrider and it is really bad and sad to sit alone and I feel ashamed too as all my friends tease me. Kimaya Agrawal adds up with a happy voice that My mom gets a note from my teacher, she comes and talks it over and thats the end Though I like homework, I sometimes avoid because I feel boring to write, she beams.
Free Souls flashes in some guidelines for Homework plan to help the kids to excel. Homework, tension filled, stress and tedious it may be also serves good purposes. It makes them regular, disciplined, focus attention, concentrate and builds the skills needed to understand better. Final exams are less stress if regular homework is assigned to the child after explaining the lessons in the schools and also regular checking of homework is carried out by the dedicated teacher. A supportive parent may add to help the child and shake the concious of the teacher and find out the worth of their fees paid to the institution.
Interaction with the Teacher: At the beginning of the school, make sure to meet the
Teacher and find out the homework assignments she intends to chart out for the class. Her
regularity in assignments, expectation and time frame to complete the assignment. If the
child grips with the homework phobia, find the reason and straighten up things.
Set aside
regular homework time: Find the predicted time and form regular habit of settling down to
their studies. Check out the time required to finish the work as hurried or delay tactics
in homework will not get desired results.
Material:
Offer the required material to the child and teach to be neat and tidy. Sharpened pencils,
erasers, books should be handy. Assign the work when the child is in good mood, energetic
and eager.
Appreciation: Praise and motivate your kids. Give rewards to encourage conscientious work.
Offer to take the kid out for a weekend if he gets the work done every night. Cheer up the
child and build confidence instead of showing grudge for the work due to lack of time,
understanding or interest.
Interact:
Keep your contacts live with other parents. If your child cannot meet the assignments,
find what the other parent has to say about it. If the child finds homework difficult,
find out the reason and sort for a solution with the teacher.
Analyse
Results: Sometimes children adopt the stereotype system of performing the task of
homework. Teachers too take the corrections easy after a few days. Hence, cross check the
child whether the assignment done by him is understood and also make sure what the teacher
has assigned the work for the day and whether it is checked and corrected the next day.
Insist on the Teachers signature so as to ensure that the child do not lag behind.
Psychologists say "Be patient" and that is the key for successful upbringing of the child. Lets Face it - Homework Hassles will be a routine boring and a responsibility for both Parents and Teachers but like in the good olden days, neither there were Tuition teachers and homework assignments, regularity, punctuality, patience and responsibility were on the top priorities. So, let there be peaceful learning - Afterall, we cant afford stress and traumas for our kids!
