SPACE CADET

I was flying in my rocket ship
Heading out for Mars
When I suddenly saw a flashing light
Beyond the farthest star
I looked it up in my old book
To see what I should do
It said, “I’m in trouble, Space Cadet,
Boy, could I use you!”

I am brave and stalward
Pushing ever-forward, I am a Space Cadet
If there’s ever trouble
I’m there on the double, I am a Space Cadet
Coming to the rescue

I put my ship in hyper drive
And I make off for the scene
There were blue-green meanies everywhere
Boy, did they look mean
The first one turned his ship around
And sided up to stone
And I knew I’d have to fight off that, blasting one by one

I am brave and stalward
Pushing ever-forward, I am a Space Cadet
If there’s ever trouble
I’m there on the double, I am a Space Cadet
Coming to the rescue

I made it to the rippled path
And I made the pilot out
I took him back to my spaceship
And I turned that baby about
And then my friend said, “What you did, I never will forget”
He said, “You are quite a man, my son.”—No, I’m a Space Cadet!

I am brave and stalward
Pushing ever-forward, I am a Space Cadet
If there’s ever trouble
I’m there on the double, I am a Space Cadet
Coming to the rescue
