I don't want winter to go away..

The cloudy skies painting the world so gray...

Snow covered hills and leafless trees,

The frozen air from a cold windy breeze..

People everywhere, waiting for Spring,

Listening for the first young birds to sing..
Looking toward heaven for clear blue skies

And shielding the warm sun from their eyes...

Spring rains falling on the thirsty ground,

Watching wildflowers growing all around..

Grass turning green upon a sunny hill...

Gentle waters flowing where it once was still...

Yet, there's no beauty when you're not here...

Even winter waits for your presence,

I won't see flowers on a warm sunny day,

I won't hear birds giving their joy away...

So, I'll put off Spring, and as I do,

I'll look in my heart for a vision of you..

Because Spring is cold without you, dear,

The sun won't shine without you near...

Brighter days ahead which winter knows,

Frozen dewdrops feeding a sleeping rose...

Branches holding onto empty nests so strong.

In the meantime swaying to winter's song...

And oh, I sure can wait for the first

Spring day...

I'll ask the flowers to bud in May...

I'll sit underneath the barren tree..

Until I see you once again,

it will keep me company...
