Polly, daughter of John and Sarah Ann TATE Odeneal was born 1780-90ca in NC. She married John Morton on Oct 22, 1805 in Rockingham Co., NC (Ambrose Peay was on the marriage bond, the brother of his sister's husband).  He was the son of John and Ann (Nancy) Morton, born 1782 in NC.  She died about 1822 in Hardeman Co., TN. and John died in 1873 in Marshall Co., TN . A John Morton is listed in Marshall Co., TN in Aug. 31, 1850 (1850 TN census #52-53), age 68, $1,500 worth of real estate, born in NC, also listed is a C. P. Morton age 40. The line before John, house # 51, in the 1850 census is Grabriel Morton age 30 with wife and four children. This has been proven to be a son. A John Morton is listed in Marshall Co., TN in the 1860 TN census #13-89, June 28,1860, Cany Spring PO, age 77, $8,400 of real estate and $19,730 of personal property born in NC and Charles P. age 49, born in TN. In 1870 census Aug. 17, 1870 John 88, Charles 60 and Alice 17, his wife.  John and Charles are both listed as farmers in all three census's. Nancy Caroline is listed as born in NC in 1806 and in the 1850 MO census Joseph Tate Morton lists TN as his place of birth in 1808.  All other children are born in TN.
    Polly's father and John's father both served in the Revolutionary War.

    During the winter break from college Jason Coffman found proof of the sons of John and Polly and at least a couple of generations.  Until that time it had only been speculated that C. P. and Gabriel were sons, in addition there were three other sons.
    Hugh Odneal found  a record about Joseph Tate Morton's mother being Mary Odennell of Marshall Co., TN.  Joseph and John O. moved to MO.  Joseph had one son and John O. died about 1840, without heirs.  Great work to all the researchers and their perservence in finding the proof of these facts on the family.
