Vauxhall Tavern

From the Guardian?

Much stamping of size-11 stilettos among London's drag queens. The Vauxhall Tavern, the dive near MI5 HQ which spawned such stellar talents as Julian Clary, The Divine David and Lily Savage, may have camped its last. Developers want to flatten it to build a Thunderbirds-style shopping complex themed around 'Sun World', 'Snow World' and 'Temperate World'. Trannie World, we're told, is not an option.
The boys at MI5 are also heartbroken by the news. Rogue spy David Shayler tells us many of his fellow agents made regular appearances on amateur night.

Julian Clary was too upset to talk, while the viperish Divine David went all satirical on us: "I think shopping centres are the way forward. So long as they put that line from the Manic Street Preachers's song over the entrance: 'If you tolerate this, your children will be next'."
