THE DIVINE DAVID PRESENTS...

WORLD OF WONDER, creators of Party Monster and The Adam and Joe Show, unveil their strangest living curiosity to date...

THE DIVINE DAVID PRESENTS... is a new late night six part Channel Four series which brings the bendy world of the avant-garde performer to the TV screen. It forms part of Channel 4’s new 4LATER season, taking C4 through the night.

The Divine David describes himself as a “cultural terrorist” and uses art, humour, video and performances to attack cultural bastions. He delivers ranting cut-up monologues, and is known throughout the UK for his club performances. He also appears in the feature film, VELVET GOLDMINE.

Each week the show will feature the work of several different performance artists, and clips of performance-based  video and film work. The emphasis is on work that is very rarely seen and that shares David’s view of the world, his neo-reality.

Work from Japan, the USA, Russia, Europe and the UK will all feature. For example, Stacey Makishi gives us her CABBAGE LOVE performance, in which she meets a cabbage and makes love to it in a night-club.  MOUTH TO MOUTH is a piece in which a man lies underwater in a bath and is fed air by a friend. While A+B=X asserts that not all performance art is about taking your clothes off...

Throughout the series, David will also be taking the viewer to places - to the out-of-season British seaside resort, on a twisted bus tour of London, to a scary canal, to a car wreckers yard, and to a deserted hospital.

Sometimes he will sing, sometimes he will tell a story, sometimes he will  become  quite strange.

The avant-garde ... has many faces.

THE DIVINE DAVID PRESENTS... begins December 4th at 12:30 midnight.
