Halloween II is a 1981 horror film and the second installment in the Halloween series. The film was directed by Rick Rosenthal, written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, and is a direct sequel to the first film. Set on the same night of October 31, 1978, in the fictional American Midwestern town of Haddonfield, the seemingly unkillable Michael Myers follows his intended victim Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) to a nearby hospital while Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence) is still in pursuit of his patient.

Halloween II was intended to be the last chapter of the Halloween series to revolve around Michael Myers and Haddonfield, but after the lackluster reaction to Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982), Michael Myers returned seven years later in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988).

Plot Summary::
Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence) saves Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) from his patient Michael Myers (Dick Warlock), a homicidal maniac. Loomis informs Sheriff Leigh Brackett (Charles Cyphers) that despite being shot six times, Michael has survived and escaped. A traumatized Laurie is taken to Haddonfield Memorial Hospital, where an EMS attendant, Jimmy (Lance Guest), begins to show an interest in her and later reveals to Laurie that her attacker was Michael Myers.

After Dr. Loomis sees a man that resembles Michael Myers wearing a similar mask, he and Sheriff Brackett jump out of the patrol car and chase the suspect on foot. As the suspect runs into the road, two cars crash in between him then explode, killing him. While Dr. Loomis and Sheriff Brackett are watching the body burn, an officer tells Sheriff Brackett that three teen bodies were found in a house, and one of them was his daughter, Annie. Dr. Loomis refuses to believe that Michael is dead without tangible evidence. The dental records of the suspect's burned body are examined and proven to not match Michael; the suspect is revealed to have been a 17-year old.

Michael arrives at the hospital in pursuit of Laurie and murders the staff one by one. Laurie drifts in and out of consciousness, having strange flashbacks about her adoption by the Strodes and visiting a boy in an institution. Michael eventually locates Laurie and pursues her through the hospital. Though heavily sedated and limping badly, she eludes him.

Loomis and the police remain in pursuit of Michael. They discover that he broke into the local elementary school and scrawled "Samhain" in blood on a chalkboard. As Loomis explains the meaning of the message, his assistant, Nurse Marion Chambers (Nancy Stephens), arrives to tell Loomis that he has been ordered back to Smith's Grove. On the way there, she also reveals that Laurie is Michael's sister. Loomis then learns that Michael is at the hospital in pursuit of Laurie and travels there to save her. Michael chases Loomis and Laurie into an operating room, where Laurie shoots Michael in both eyes. Loomis and Laurie fill the room with gas. Laurie escapes as Loomis ignites the gas and engulfs both Michael and himself in a fiery explosion. Laurie survives and, still traumatized by the experience, is transferred to another hospital.
