(I Can’t Believe it’s Not)

A Virtual Season Three

Sports Night Lives!

(Well, virtually)

Yes, the show that was too good for TV enters it’s third season, albeit in electronic form.

"I Can’t Believe It’s Not Sports Night" is not a collection of stories - it is a season of twenty two interconnected episodes, written in script form, that picks up where season two left off.

It has been written by three fans - the wonder of the Internet allowing an American, a Brazilian, and a Brit to work together easily, speedily and efficiently. More or less.

The writing of this virtual season has not been subject to the rigors of professional script-writing. This is partly because we have lives to live and have had to write in our spare time, and partly because living in three different countries makes getting round a table a little difficult. But mostly it was because nobody was paying us any money.

Nevertheless, we believe that what we have produced stands comparison with the show itself, and we hope you think so too. We have endeavored to re-create the feel of Sports Night, the personality of the characters, the quick-fire dialogue, and the blend of humor and drama that made it so unique and special.

Of course, what we cannot possibly recreate is the impact of seeing the scripts acted out to perfection by one of the most talented casts ever assembled. This is where we ask you to use your imagination. If you are here then there is a good chance that you know the cast, and you know the characters. Use that knowledge to play the scenes in your mind’s eye.

This season is, inevitably, only our view of what might have happened - one possible future for the characters. You may not agree with the direction we have taken, but then, we’re sure that was true of the show too. Feedback is positively encouraged, either direct to the authors, or on the Sports Night discussion group.

All that remains is to thank the writers, cast and crew of Sports Night for giving us two seasons of the best TV ever. And to lament the decisions that resulted in it’s screen life being prematurely ended.
