Odaiba is an artificial island in Tokyo.   This is a site heavily hit by tourists and Japanese because it's where a lot of the Japanese dramas and shows are filmed and also the location of the headquarters of Japan's most popular network, Fuji TV and also because the cool shopping and amusement places.   On this island you have a great look at the rainbow bridge, Odaiba Kaihin Koen, the Statue of Liberty (note: It is a smaller replica of the one in New York) is also there (on loan by France) but I hear the final day of the statue is on January of 1999.  Other attractions include the Fuji Terebi Sankei Building, Sega's Joyopolis amusement center, Tokyo Sight, Ariake Clean Center, Ariake Bridge, Tokyo Port Museum, Shinagawa Aquarium, Tokyo Fashion TownMuseum of Maritime Science (Fune no Kagakukan), the Tokyo International Exposition Center, Wanza Ariake Bay Mall, Decks - Tokyo Beach-, Tokyo Minato-kan, Telecom Tower [and so much more] and a plethora of beautiful restaurants, malls and hotels in the area.  You can also hear the place referred to as Daiba, Rainbow Town and Tokyo Beach.

There are several ways to go to Odaiba but one way that is very fun is to ride the Yurikamome Monorail. You must go to Ariake station before transferring to Yurikamome.  Our best advice is to buy a one-day open ticket which costs about ¥800 (this is as of January 1999).  From the monorail you can see a lot of beautiful attractions in inner Tokyo and Odaiba.  It would be nice to bring your video camera but to use your regular camera on the monorail maybe a little difficult because of the slight blurry glass.  Here is what the yurikamome one-day ticket looks like:

yurikamome2.jpg (25655 bytes) This is the Yurikamome Monorail.  It's a quick and smooth monorail which gave us a good sight of Tokyo Tower, Ginza and the Konami building for video game enthusiasts.  If there was one thing that I wish it had was clear windows to take good photos.  Here is an example what I mean by how their windows are slightly blurry.  On the right is a photo of the popular rainbow bridge with the Tokyo Tower on the back.  The actual photo size is very blurry but when reduced in size, it doesn't look all that bad.
