Pvt. John Jacob Abshire, Jr.
Company K - 18th LA

 

The identy of John Jacob Abshire is not certain in the above photograph --
but it is believed to be the well dressed gentleman, dressed in black coat, black hat and white shirt
standing to the left of the doorway, second row of men. The sign on the store states: J ABSHIRE & SON. The mercantile business shown in this image was opened by John Jacob in 1879 and was still in operation in 1891.
