Civilian Data: (23 August 2000) Eugene Victor Richard was one of three brothers born to Jean Baptiste Richard Jr., who in turn is descended from Victor Richard who arrived in Louisiana from Acadie via Maryland(?) in 1766. He settled in the Prarie Belleview area of Opelousas. He was descended by three generations from Michel[Andre]Richard who came over from France to the New World. Eugene Victor's two brothers were Camile and Joseph Victor, both of who served in Co. K., Sons of St. Landry of the the 28th Thomas' Louisiana Infantry Regiment 28th Thomas' Louisiana Infantry Regimenmt Eugene Victor survived the war. A Confederate pension application was filed on behalf of Eugene Victor and this two brothers. The application is on file at the Archives in Baton Rouge. The pension application for all three brothers was denied. His date of death is not stated. He is laid to rest at the old St. Landry Catholic Church cemetery in Opelousas, Louisiana.
