      I, A. D. Clardy do hereby make application to the Commissioner of Pensions for a pension to be granted me under the Act passed by the Thirty-third Legislature of the State of Texas, and approved April 7, 1913, on the following grounds:

      I enlisted and served in the military service of the Confederate States during the war between the States of the United States and that I did not desert the Confederate service, but during said war I was loyal and true to my duty, and never at any time voluntarily abandoned my post of duty in the said service; or (that I was in the service of the State of Texas during the war, to protect said State against the Indians and Mexicans for more than 6 months). That I was honorably discharged or surrendered Surrendered and disbanded in the fall of 1865

that I have been a bona fide citizen of this State since prior to January 1; A. D. 1900, and have been continuously since a citizen of the State of Texas. I do further state that I do not hold any National, State, city or county office which pays me a salary or fees of $300.00 per annum, nor have I an income from any other employment or other source which amounts to $300.00 per annum, nor do I receive from any source whatever money or other means of support amounting in value to the sum of $300.00 per annum, nor do I own in my own right, nor does any one hold in trust for my benefit or use, nor does my wife own, nor does any one hold in trust for my wife, estate or property, either real, personal or mixed, either in fee or for life, of the assessed value of over one thousand dollars, exclusive of a home of the value of not more than $2000.00 nor do I receive any aid or pension from any other State, or from the United States, or from any other source, and that I am not an inmate of the Confederate Home, and I (do further state that the answers given to the following questions are true:

7.

What is your occupation, if able to engage in one ? None What is your physical condition? Feeble

In what State was the command in which you served organized? Louisiana

9.

How long did you serve? Give if possible, the date of enlistment and discharge 3 years enlisted in spring 1862 and discharged 1865

10.

What was the letter of your company, number of battalion, regiment or battery ? Co. "B" 18th. La. Reg.; Moutal, Col.

11.

If transferred from one command to anot her, give time of tr ansfer, name of command and time of service Never transferred

CERTIFICATE OF STATE AND COUNTY ASSESSOR

  I, W. P. Nixon , State and Counter Assessor in the County of Van Zandt State of Texas, do certify that A. D. Clardy , or his wife, or trustee, or trustee for his wife, whose name rs signed to the foregoing application for a pension, under the Act of the Thirty-third Legislature approved April 7, l913, is charged on the t ax rolls of said county with a homestead of the value of One Thousand and no/100 Dollars, and of other property, real or personal, or both, of the value of none Dollars.

The records show that
    A._Clardy,
also borne as Claradey and Claddley but not found as A. D. Clardy, was a private in Co. E, 18 Regiment La. Inf., C. S. A., and enlisted Oct. 10, 1862 at Camp Pratt for the war. By order dated November 12, 1863 the regiment became a part of the Consolidated 18 Regiment and Yellow Jacket Battalion Louisiana Infantry and the soldier became a member of Co. B. of the consolidated regiment. On the roll of that company for Jan. & Feb., 1864, last on file, he was reported "Absent with a furlough of 30 days since Feb. 14, 1864. No later record as a member of the organization has been found.

The affiant, being by me duly sworn upon his oath, deposes and says: that he is an ex-confederate soldier, that he served in Company B Regiment 18th Louisiana and as such soldier he rendered valuable service to the Confederacy, that he did not desert, and that he has made diligent search for members of his Company and Regiment and that they are all dead or their whe eabouts are unknown to him and to establish proof of his service, herewith, submits his war record with this affidavit; that he is Indigent and entitled to a Confederate Pension and therefore prays the Comptroller to approve his application and grant his pension.

APPLICATION FOR MORTUARY WARRANT

THE STATE OF TEXAS,

County of Kaufman I, R. E. Clardy do herby certify that I am the person to whom is entrusted the paying of the accounts and indebtedness of the late A. D. Clardy , who was a pensioner of the State of Texas, and whose file number was 40422 and whose original county was Van Zandt.
   The said pensioner A. D. Clardy , died on the 14th day of Mar, 1934, in the town of Dallas, County of Dallas, Texas.

   The pensioner died in the home of St. Paul Hospital, Bryan St. who was related to the pensioner as Father .

   That the warrant, which application is hereby made for, shall be applied to paying all or part of the funeral expenses incurred by the said pensioner A. D. Clardy.

   I further certify that the warrant for the current quarter has not been cashed by the pensioner, to the best of my knowledge and belief.

   I am related to the pensioner as (Friend) Son that my postoffice address is Mabank, Texas R #3 .

That said body was prepared for burial by me on the 14 day of Mar., 1934, and that I am of the opinion taht warrant herein applied for should be issued to the said Eubank B---- who makes the foregoing application.

   I, Dr. H. R. Kannenberg , do certify that I am a practicing physician, and that I attended Mr. A. D. Clardy in his last illness, and am of the opinion that his ailments were Lobar pneumonia .

   I further certify taht I am of the opinion that the Mortuary Warrant above requested should be issued in the name of the aforementioned applicant, in accordance with Act passed by the Thirty-eight Legislature and approved March 2, 1923.
