The
Battersea Crew
Spiff
Spiff is the house steward for a a Borrible residence on Trott Street in Battersea, and a lot more besides. He likes to mooch around in an orange dressing gown and slippers, referring to the younger Borribles as 'Sonny' and affecting an air of lazy indolence. However, as Chalotte so aptly puts it, he's also:
... sharp enough to cut your nails with.
... so crooked you could use him to unblock a pipe.
... so crafty he doesn't know whether he's been or gone.
... has enough neck to look up his own ear 'ole.
... is as straightforward as a left-handed corkscrew.
... so crafty his right hand's never even seen his left one.
... and can't be trusted farther than she can spit upwards.
Spiff didn't get to be over a hundred years old by being slow, or stupid, or self-sacrificing. An untrustworthy friend and a formidable enemy, Spiff is one to keep your eyes open around, and serves no one's agenda but his own.
Lightfinger
Lightfinger was Knocker's best friend and roommate before the Rumble Hunt; they never met again after that. Lightfinger always considered the entire mission madness, and became quite embittered about what happened to Knocker as a result of it. Overcome with emotion, he was rude to the returning adventurers, never forgiving them for getting his friend mixed up in their adventure.
Dodger
Dodger actually hails from over along the Northcote Road, The son of a paratropper, he would never have been Borribled at all had his parents not planned to send him off to a public school. He was choosen for his military background to train the team for the Rumble Hunt along with Knocker. Unlike Knocker, however, he had no aspirations towards joining them and left soon after his mission was over with an engraved watch as a souvenir.
Ziggy & Rasher
Ziggy and Rasher were two other house stewards from houses along Battersea High Street; both served as the primary opposition to the Rumble Hunt. Spiff never took either of them too seriously, although he required that the team steal a boat both as a better means of getting to Wandsworth and as a way of proving to Ziggy and Rasher that they were capable.
