Update dated 28/08/1999

At Gymkhana, after a lull in activity, its all happening, once again.

Firstees- 8 of them - comprising the 1998 batch joined in early
July and set off the usual chain of events, marked by hectic
physical and mental activity. This adds a lot of numerical strength
to Gymkhana, as it shoots up by almost 80 % from 11 to 19.
This also gives the 1996 batch, firstees for almost 2 years,
a chance to grow up and enjoy the airs of being seniors.

The 94 batch passed out on 28/05/99 and left the 96 batch
to be the flagbearers of Gymkhana. The emptiness was broken
off and on by the arrival of probationers of all hues, shapes and
marital status - thank God, the probationary training shifted from
Kharagpur to Jamalpur !!

The biggest official event was the signing of the MoU between
IRIMEE and BIT, Mesra on award of degrees to SCAs 1998
batch onwards. It was a hi-fi affair, with big shots like AMM and
CMEs in attendance. The AMM and CME/Eastern signed the
MoU on IRIMEE's behalf.
As an afterthought, both of them are from the Engineering Services- a sign of the times, maybe.

Sports is back on the Gym agenda and soccer, our good ol football
made a comeback too, somedays even full-field.

So, thats how life's moving on at Jamalpur Gymkhana.
