as well as the complete refinishing of the entire saxophone. All polishing is performed by hand (no heavy-handed machine

"Rat Rod" Bare Brass finish
For some time now there have been brand new professional
brass and woodwind instruments produced by the manufacturer and offered in “bare brass” finishes. These instruments are sold in their shiny new appearance and then, over time, oxidize to become the dull
finish horns we occasionally see. There are some considerations that should be made before selecting the “Rat Rod
restoring brass or metal woodwind instruments, the lacquer, silver-plating or gold plating is applied not only for their beautiful
appearances but these coatings act as protections against wear. If the instrument is left in the "bare brass" stage,
one needs to keep in mind that the elements as well as the acid from the player's own hands will attack the instrument and
greatly decrease the life expectancy of your brass or woodwind instrument.
Also, the residue from this oxidation process can be absorbed into the players' system
and may not be very healthy at all. Some players have discovered that they are actually allergic to this brass
J and J Woodwinds does, upon customer’s request, leave a brasswind or metal woodwind restoration in the “Rat Rod” bare brass finish, but only after having advised of the negative effects.
Musical instruments are
prone to damage under normal care and usage. Minor dents are common place and most instrument repairs require some dent
removal. J and J Woodwinds, when performing mechanical overhauls and complete restorations, will do minor dent removal
on the instrument at no extra charge. If the dent work becomes excessive, J and J Woodwinds will contact and
advise you of any additional charges prior to any work being performed.
J Woodwinds requires a 50% deposit, by either check,

control over) and will be reflected on the final invoice. You
