A little about me...

NEWS (3/18): 2 of my hamsters and 2 of my mice have died in the last few months. I got them all 2 years ago and they all seem to be dying on me now. I have one hamster left and my 2 turtles.

Hello! My name is Jannie and I have blue eyes and long black hair that reaches the small of my back. I'm 5'4" and I live in Tampa, FL with my boyfriend (Scott), my animals and his 2 Siamese cats. I am a good writer, excelling in spelling and grammer, and I have a deep love of animals and children.

MY PAST
I was two months premature and I lived in Minnesota until I was 3 years old when my mother moved us to St. Petersburg, FL. I taught myself how to walk before I ever crawled. I was an adorable little girl with good grades and about the most well behaved child anyone could ask for. In first grade, I passed the gifted program test for the top 5% of students, but my records were lost and I didn't find out the results until 4th grade and was immediately enrolled. I frequently made Honor Roll or the Principal's list for good grades and was a Safety Patrol in the 5th grade. I began playing the clarinet in the 4th grade and continued through my junior year of high school when after I was section leader in concert and marching band. I took a school-administered "Florida Writes" assessment test in my sophomore year and was one of only 3 students to make a perfect score.

After I graduated high school, I had shoulder surgery for frequent dislocations (read about it here) and after a few months, I started my first full time job at KinderCare learning centers as a teacher for 12-18 month olds. That was quite an experience! After about 5 months, I started working for MCI representing MSN for 2 years and then WebTV. Then I worked for PrimeCo/Verizon Wireless for about 5 months. I'm now working as a "Sourcing Specialist" in the IT recruiting field! My life is pretty much all work right now.

PLACES I'VE BEEN
Washington D.C. was a 7th grade fieldtrip, but I arranged it so I could keep going for the next 3 years (as a chaperone for the last 2 trips). On 2 occasions, I saw Gettysburg where the famous battle of the civil war was. I loved all of the monuments and the tour through the White House and hope to go again some day. New York city was a senior year trip for people in the drama department. Our teacher used to live there, so she was a pretty good guide. It was freezing cold, but Times Square is something you see a hundred times on TV, but it never makes an impact on you until you see it in person! I saw the Statue of Liberty, rode in many taxi cabs and took tons of pictures. You wouldn't believe the amount of grafitti there was! Gatlinburg, TN was a youth group field trip. We stayed in a great place and saw snow and had snowball fights. Atlanta, GA was a high school band field trip and we toured the Coca-Cola factory, the place where they make money, the Underground Mall, NBC studios and we saw the Atlanta orchestra.

FAMILY
In Florida, I just have my mother and stepdad. Both are disgruntled Postal Employees, but they love my animals and get joy out of feeding the rabbit fresh lettuce and carrots and walking my dog, so they're not all that bad. I am close to my mother and visit her as much as I can. I have some family members in Texas, Minnesota and Wisconsin as well.

INTERESTS
I play Magenta for the Rocky Horror Picture Show (RHPS) cast "Interchangeable Parts" in the Tampa Bay area. We are currently theatre-less, but quickly working to find a new theatre. Click the link to see the official site I created about it! Every year, Tampa Theatre has a performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show for Halloween. In 1997, I played dinner scene/understudy Frank and I won lead Magenta in '98, '99 and 2000!

I also believe you can learn a lot about a person by what they like. As far as authors, I like Stephen King and Dean R. Koontz. I'm not much of a music fan to the point of obsession, but I do like some groups like Nirvana, Kiss, Aerosmith, Rob Zombie, The Doors, The Mamas and the Papas, Metallica and Type O Negative. Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain" also gives me chills! I went on a fieldtrip in high school to New York where I saw the musicals "Rent," "Phantom of the Opera," "Chicago" and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" (starring Whoopi Goldberg)... "Rent" was my favorite. I love George Carlin and Eddie Murphy as far as comedians go and I LOVE movies. Some of my personal favorites are Spaceballs, Airplane, Star Wars: Episode 1, Coming to America, The Matrix, Tango & Cash, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Edward Scissorhands, Night of the Living Dead, Twister, Halloween, Scream, Psycho, Jurassic Park, Pet Sematary, The Shining (newer mini series version), It, Cujo, The Langoliers, JFK, South Park and others that I will add as I think of them. I like professional football and my favorite team is the Green Bay Packers (I especially like Brett Favre). WWF wrestling is great to watch, too, with the stage fighting and soap opera plot lines. I've set up a site about my favorite wrestlers: here.
