General MP3 info:
MP3 is a compression format for audio files. Using this compression algorithm, wave
files can be compressed up to 1:10 or more. This is great for CD-quality. To play MP3
files, you have to download a mp3 player. I recommend WinAmp. The latest version is 2.09
and is working very good. You may download it from http://www.winamp.com
. It's shareware without any time-limits or nags.
Then you may downloand some MP3 files. You can use the links on the MP3Links
page. If you want to make your own MP3's, you'll need a mp3-encoder. You'll find links to
encoders on the MP3Links page. But with an encoder you can only
convert wave (.wav) files to MP3 files. If you want to convert your favorite CD to the MP3
format, you'll need a grabber. This is a program that "grabs" the audio
information from an audio CD directly to a wave file. Grabbers can also be found on the
links page.
