Though your sins are like scarlet, By Jesse Larsen, May 30, 2005 Note: This poem was inspired from verses such as Isaiah 1:18, Proverbs 28:26 and Revelation 3:14-20. This poem was not written to one particular person, but it was written to some of the churches of our day whose members believe that they are in need of nothing, but do not know that they are "wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked". (Revelation 3:17). Whether or not the poem describes you, that is between you and the Lord. But I would like to get people to examine themselves to see whether they are truly in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). There are many people today who seem to believe that it is unloving to say that anyone is wrong, even though the entire Bible was written for our correction (See 2 Timothy 3:16-17). I wrote this poem because I would like people to understand that the God of the Bible is a God who intends to reason with man because of His love for us, and that whoever He loves He rebukes and chastens (See Revelation 3:19). This tells me that He loved the lukewarm people of Laodicea, otherwise He would not have rebuked them... But it is clearly not a "love" that just agrees with everyone.
