Therese
Pendragon
A native
Salem, Massachusetts witch, Therese Pendragon has practiced
Witchcraft and the spiritual arts for nearly four decades.
She has studied with and been initiated by many teachers,
including Laurie Cabot, the "official Witch"
of Salem. Thereses present spiritual focus is on
the Mysteries of Isis.
A
professional performer and multi-instrumentalist, Therese
is proficient in voice, percussion, Queana flute, lapharp,
zither, and the beautiful handmade panpipes she fashions
from reeds harvested in Salem. With husband Michael Pendragon
she has co-created a catalog of ambient musical recordings,
including 13 Moons, Eight Solar Holidays, Dragon
Tales, Angels and Aliens, Sun Child and Peace Moon.
They performed together in the rock band Original
Sin in the early 1980s, during which time Therese
also undertook studies in sound healing and harmonic overtones
with Ted Levine, a member of David
Sykes harmonic choir at New England Sound Healers
Association. She has also extensively researched
and practices crystal and pranic healing.
Therese
has danced for 30 years, specializing in Sacred Dance.
She designs and creates her own striking costumes and
jewelry, including fine needle and beadwork and decorative
hand-painting. (She has also been bestowed the title "Salem
Priestess of Sacred Baking" for her delectable
homemade bread!)
Therese
and her daughter helped make modern Salem history , taking
part in the first Salem Witches Heritage Day
Parade in 1978. The following year she appeared
with Laurie Cabot and the witches of Salem in the April
1979 issue of National Geographic
the first time American witches "made the map"
internationally, with a group portrait by photographer
Nathan Benn, accompanying Randall S. Peffers article,
"Massachusetts North Shore, Harboring
Old Ways."
As
prominent practitioners and healers in the Salem pagan
community, Therese and Michael have made numerous national
media appearances, including:
- CBS Evening News with Dan Rather 1985
- Lifetime Channels "Nature of Witches"
1995
- National Enquirer TV 1999
