Hi Jerrie ..... nice work ;-)
Berit
Love your website, not to mention the dogs! I especially enjoyed your puppy temperament article. Learn something new every time I read it! The buttons on your Frame are very cool, too. Keep up the excellent work! Tracy
Great site Jerrie, you should be proud. You learned so much and I've learned too just being there.
Great web site Jerrie! I just got a new cairn puppy and she is nine weeks old named Hannah. Enjoy all the useful info on your site, keep up the good work, it is most helpful to all us cairn owners!

Our 6 month old male Cairn was adopted from April Brook, Ucluelet, B.C. His name is Riley, Cairnbrook's Beach Boy. I enjoy your web page and will continue to check in. There's no dog like a Cairn Terrier and April Brook is such a nice dedicated breeder. Our last Cairn was Lizzie Taylor and we still miss her.
Thanks for being there.
Thanks for such a great site! I am now able to show my local groomer HOW to trim my welsh terrier, Truman! Thank you!!!
brilliant Jerrie!! tasteful and artistic and love the music too!!
This was very enjoable looking at all your lovely dogs. I love the attractive way you presented the breeds and your borders are great.
An extreemly interesting and informative site. I really enjoyed it.
I own 4 Cairn bitches, two of whom I show. They are all champions. I have had a Cairn for over 20 years but only last 8 years been showing them, which I really enjoy. In New Zealand it is hard to get much information.
Patricia
Cute dogs. Cool website.
About our guys: Our family used to have a horse farm prior to moving into a house in a development. Now we have a fenced backyard that our two Jack Russells love to run, leap, and frolic in. Our dogs, Samson and Simeon, are father and son. They are truly a delight to us and all who come over love them too. Samson is a very handsome intact male (smooth coat with deer colored head and tail ring). Simeon, recently neutered, is a bit smaller than his father and is a young dog with so much personality. He entertains us with his crazy antics...especially when he realizes that his tail is STILL following him! He races in circles one way, then another, trying desperately to catch it, then eventually collapses and looks to see if he's being watched. He's a nut. Thank you for your website. I truly enjoyed the history and update concerning the AKC. We don't show our dogs, nor have they been raced. Samson has bred with three female Jack Russells and has produced some beautiful pups. Their personality and companionship, and the fact that they are so "portable" as compared to larger breeds we've owned, wins our hearts. They are the most wonderful breed of dog we've owned. It is my hope that this breed will continue along the realm of intelligence and fun...as they are quite the little characters. :o)
Jerrie! You have done a fantastic job of the site and I loved my visit!! Well done!
Hi ! This was a very , very good site!!! Regards from your Swedish friend. Pillan Kennel Cairnstone's
A lovely website, well designed and beautiful graphics. Having problems at the moment viewing your Russells, but will keep trying.
A realy nice site, have been comparing Grahamns and Frejas "tree" it seems both are related to my Paddy! His tree is on his breeders site at http://hem.passagen.se/wieslander/
Hi, Jerrie!
Great website! Jane Nagel tells me she talks with you occasionally -- I have her Cn CH Greatscot's Whipstocker ("Murdoch") here in the south working on his American championship. He now has 9 pts, 1 major. My husband, Blake, and I hope to meet you at the Mont. Co. specialty -- we'll be there Oct. 5 - 9. See you soon !

I am Honorary Secretary of the Cairn Terrier Association (UK). I found your home page most interesting. There is a new book out called "The Pet Owner's Guide to the Cairn Terrier" by Ron and Brenda Birch of the famous Kinkim Cairn Terriers, which may be of interest to your visitors. It is published in the UK by Ringpress Books, ISBN is: 1 86054 111 9.
Fun, enjoyed the ride.
Diane
your holloween treat is great, and of corse your cairns are wonderful. eileen from the cairn -list
Hi Jerrie, from Syreece's husband Jim. Duncan is doing great. It's a new life for Fiona, having a pup to play with. I am really interested in their interaction. Play play play, with Duncan seeming dominant ... until he bites just a little too hard and "boom" she puts him on his back and he submission-pees. Fascinating to watch. I look forward to walking in at the end of the day and being greeted by the two of them. We are all figuring out our new roles in the pack.
Hope all goes well for you during the holidays and that your wrists hold up OK. Carpal's a tough thing, I know. Hang in there, you have lots of fans out here.
Jim
Great website.
i would be interested in hearing about terriers in need of rescue. we need an adult female that is housetrained and that could get along with our 7 year old neutered australian terrier.
Great Halloween addition to your web site. Thanks.
brilliant jer
I love your site. I really like what you did for Halloween. Also, wonderful advice for pet owners. Connie
I have to say, this is the nicest site I have seen in a long time. I designed mine myself, and I can see what a long way I have to ga and what is truly possible. Way to go!
Jerrie--GREAT Halloween page--oohhhhhh scary!!!!!!!
We are in the process of getting a Cairn and we have a 3 year old Westie. We should have our puppy around Thanksgiving. Previously, we had a Cairn who lived to 16 1/2 years. Your web site is GREAT!!! I think Riley was our future puppy's grandpa. He was a gorgeous dog. I also like all of the Cairn info. Do you have one special Cairn book that you recommend. Thanks and sorry about your wrists. I had to wear the splints on both arms last year for quite a while. I sympathize with you and hope you are better soon,
I really enjoyed your page and getting to know more about you and your dogs. It was really intersting and being one who enjoys history it was especially enjoyable to me. You have certainly put a lot of hard work into not only this web site but your animals. Thanks for sharing.
As always, your site looks and *reads* wonderfully! I love your new Halloween look and what a bunch of wonderful tips that you share with owners of dog. In fact, I hope that you do not mind. I am going to put a link to your Halloween page up on both my family site and my German Shepherd website. Great work and (((PATS))) to all of the pups!

Jerrie,
A very impressive website, beautiful and rich with information. I love to visit here.
The Halloween page is wonderful! I loved your tips for keeping pets safe during the holiday.
Cheers,
April Cairnbrook reg. British Columbia, Canada
I've wondered what a Glen of Imaal looked like since one appeared on the cover of Town & Country last year; they are different little guys. Your address came through DiAnn Flory in case you wondered how I found you on the web--even though I have an Afghan, I like the terriers as well.
Arial and I loved your Halloween Greeting! We use the same type of warnings for our Puppy Kindergarten classes. The new wrinkle we learned from you was the one about rubber bands in costumes, so hope you won't mind if we verbally pass that one on to all our future classes. Have a safe, delightful, spooky Halloween. Harpers Highland Barbarians "Scotties with Attitude" (But Manners) & The counter-surfing bzer (Without any)
Gosh, you really have me in the spirit for "halloween" although I didn't get any sound viewing the web pages....
I am a really sucker for Halloween. This is a really nice holiday page.
Keep in mind, pound for pound, Halloween is by far your least expensive holiday/occasion.
Love the Holloween theme. Very original, informative and entertaining.
Carrie

Good to see you again, Teddy. Sighhhhhhhhhhh.

Fabulous job on the web site!! I especially enjoyed the photos of Cutter's arrival; made me recall picking up 3-month old Denbigh at Oakland Airport in '98.
Thanks for the good tips on Halloween safety.
Your web site is great! Love the holiday theme, but the dog pics are the best! Mom and I have four Aussies - three over the age of ten. We'd like to add another dog but a different breed. We have had Westies in the past, and Mom would like a hairy little dog as a lap dog! I'd like one young enough to get along with the cat and old enough to know what house-training is all about. If anyone knows of a show prospect that didn't grow up to make the grade or an older puppie looking for a great home and lots of attention and companions please Email me. Thanks! Robbie
Congratulations, Jerrie. You've come a long way since we first met, way back in the '80's. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, Irene
Great work with that Halloween pages and I love the horror music. Itīs really spooke.
LOVE your Halloween web pages! You've really outdone yourself this time!
Jerrie,
Your website is well-structured and very informative. Love the Halloween stuff too. - Lyn
Jerrie, A WONDERFUL site which is inspirational and informative. Congratulations on such super dogs and successes and long may it continue. Love the music too!!!! Angi.
Very nice web page. We really enjoyed it. And also some very good info. Keep up the great pages.
Jerrie, I like tour new page header with the celtic motif and the cairns in the middle.
I also appreciated the halloween messages, though in Australia this is not part of our culture - I'm reminded that I need to get moving to have new front fence with gate constructed.
Being an architect, its the images that get me in, so I'm looking forward to new images of your dogs!
I liked your scandanavian chum's (I've forgotten the name) American holiday pages. It was great seeing people and their dogs and houses.
I hadn't got back to you after Willow's knee surgery. She picked up very quickly but ut has taken her really the better part of 2 weeks to get back to her happy old self. For pain relief, the vet provided 5 days worth of Rimadyl, morning and evening dosing. She had a reaction to the bandage adhesive and pulled it off on day 3. I nearly had a heart attack, it was late on the Sunday afternoon and only the emergency vets were open. The wound was clean and invisibly stitched so I cut the remnant of the bandage off and put her in a crate. On Monday morning the vet said the wound looked fine and to leave the bandage off, by day 6 he said that since she seemed happy to bear weight on the leg she could go for a walk. So now we've had 2 of 5 injections at weekly intervals of a substance called Cartrophen which is supposed to be anti-imflamitory and have a role in rebuilding cartilage.
Royal Melbourne Show was interesting. The German Argentinian judge was extraordinarily rough in opening all dogs mouths to counter teeth and check tonsils. Exhibitors were in a state of shock afterwards being concerned that particularly young dogs may be permanently traumatised by this assault. Cathy's prinicipal competitor, in this state, Barbara Candela took most honours on the day. Even so, cairn breeders and groupies / connisseurs had a pleasant pot luck lunch together afterwards.
Sorry to run on.
Congratulations on your continuous improvement of the best cairn site in the known cairn world!!!
Regards, Delia Melbourne, Australia
P.S. I agree with you about Tamar. Also, I was perplexed by the communications I knew she was having Joanna McGinn, which second hand didn't semed to gel. Ho hum.
Great Halloween page Jerrie, and some very good information! Thanks for the entertainment and tips at this time of year!
Jerrie: I love your Halloween treat! Keep up the good work. Thanks for all of your thoughtful comments on the list. Wish you could be at the WC gathering.
My husband and I are expecting a beagle pup in the near future. The dogs we have owned (3 total) all have been what my husband calls "Parking Lot Pooches". Our current domestic pet roll call only contains a beautiful Snowshoe cat, who adopted us two years ago, appearing at our front door on New Year's day. I would suppose a point of interest for you and me.. rescue dogs are probably in my 'blood'. Enjoyed the WEB site and I'll be back!!
Thank you Rose for the pre-halloween reminders to all of us as to the possible dangers to our little furry family members. You are doing a great service with your site - as I noticed, you have had lots of visitors - I will send it on to my dogloving friends. Thank you very much !!

( & Harry & Amber of course, the four footed family members )
Great web page. Can we expect turkeys next month?
Very informative. Love the pictures. It's nice what Lily's ancestors looked like.
I love the Halloween website. I made it to Hatboro where I saw Toots in action. Devon I saw only in the A.M. and Toots showed at 12:15 P.M. but I understand from Greg that she finished 4th in her group (12-18). Montgomery I saw the A.M. proceedings up to the commencement of the 12-18 Bitches and Toots was not there so I assumed Greg pulled her because the judge was picking big boned Cairns. I had fun guessing which dogs he would choose and was right more often than not until the Group Joe was in and then I do not understand what his criteria was. We left when we thought Toots was a no show and it turns out that had we waited five more minutes she did make an entry but we (my Goddaughter and I) were on our way to D.C. It was sunny but 51 degrees and we had waited 3 hours in the cold and were anxious to get in a warm car. Greg has quite a line up for Toots. My quick glance at Hatboro tells me she is looking good and seemed happy with Jennifer. So we will keep waiting for those 12 points. More Later, HLH
Excessive biting and snipping when kept outside.
Hi jerrie, this is Carolyn. I am very impressed at you web site. You made this? It is so neat. Love the music too. Email me sometime. Take care and keep in touch. It was great to see you in town today. Take care. Keep in touch. Carolyn
Hi Jerrie, I love your newest webpage it looks fantastic. Skye is working on hers as a fluke(meaning me)deleted out the old one. It will take her a while to put it back in order. Colleen
nice site

I have had terriers all my life. Skye Terrier while growing up and then my first Scottish Terrier in 1979 he live 14 years and dyed of a massive tumor in his throat. Through my friend who runs Rescue Scottie the next I mean the very next day we rescued a desparately in need female Scot who was abandoned and abused and had her ribs broken from so human beast she was also attached by larger dogs and is very frightened when she sees another dog. We got her when she was five and do not know her real birthdate so we call it Feb 1 when we adopted her. I love the Cairn Terriers and I also love the Westies. Maggie my Scottie is getting up in years she is about 12 (we think) so I think when the Lord calls her home we are going to get two puppies. A Scottie and probably a Cairn. We also love the Jack Russell's there getting quite popular where I live in Wyoming, Pennsylvania. Cute little fellas. I also love the Soft Coat Wheaten Terriers. I have to do research on them to see how big they get and their personlity and temparment.
Thanks for sharing you web site it is really nice.

Just wanted to wish you the best of luck showing the boxer in Juniors. I started out with a boxer which I also showed in Juniors and it was an experience I will never forget. The boxers I have owned have been wonderful companions.

I WONDER WHERE YOU WENT?
Great website.I always read thr daily drool, and will adopt one of these days. There is something about Bassetts! My last two dogs were StBernard, and Gt Gt.Dane, so this would be a total change. Keep up with the good work Regards Anne
Hello Jerrie, well done - like your web-site! All the best to you and your dogs. Kindest regards from Germany
I loved your website, it was very informative. My husband and I are looking for a Cairn for our children, ages 3ys, 8ys, and 10ys. I very much appreciated your insight regarding cairns and children. We have gotten alot of negative opinons (mostly from my mother-in-law)regarding children and this breed. Do you have any puppies available at this time? Or could you possibly make a referral?
Thanking You in Advance, Taika Blaier
I am at the moment the proud owner of 2 cairn's and a thing. One of the cairn's (my bitch Shona)is in her 15th year and starting to get cataracts. I've had Shona since she was 6 weeks old. She's still active has a full set of teeth and averages a 4mile walk each day with my other 2 dogs. It is noticable that she is not as fast as she used to be but is still enjoying a full and active life. Rabbie (Honeyhall Harverd)is my 4 &1/2 year old male. Rabbie and I travel round the North of England and |Scotland doing agility compitions. I have really enjoyed your web site.I am a very new user of the web Mon 29th Jan 2001 and yours is the 2nd web site Ive visited.Best of luck and I'll revisit soon Alex
My dog is just reaching a year old, and is quite a handfull. Your page provided me with some very useful information about dog behavior. Thanks!
We just welcomed a lovable and kind 11 week old Cairn into our home named Oliver Ballovfur. In 4 days we were able to paper train, crate train, and teach him the commands "fetch", "sit", and "stay" with a very high rate of accuracy and retention. Oliver is a remarkable puppy, and we'd like to thank you for such an informative site about this exceptional breed.
This site is very well constructed and i love my doggie Holly
I'm very interested in adding a glen to our home. I've found your site very informative.
I have a strange question that you may answer. Is Cartrophen registered for human dosage and if not what would the result be for someone who was administered this drug for a period of six months. If it is not a registered drug for human use then why would a doctor inject it into a human.

I have really enjoyed your web page. I have two cairns. I fell in love with the breed several years ago seeing them at the shows. I hadn't seen any ads for cairns in my area. When I finally did I decided to go and see the pups. I went home with a male. I thought he turned out to be pretty nice, so I called a friend who was a handler. She took a look at him and decided to show him. He is a champion! I now have two cairns and two older shetland sheepdogs. I am looking for a female show pup or older bitch. I plan to do a little breeding so I can enjoy the breed more. I never tire of watching them in action. My old girl thinks that she is bigger than the german shepherd down the road and tries to pick a fight every time we are out for a walk. Thank You for listening. Lyanne
Beautiful site. Corin tell me much of you. I have one cairn champion that do well in agility and in attitudinal test. I agree with you that a champion of beauty must do well also in work. Write me. Kennel Red's Flame,Rome,Italy. Silvia

Absolutely lovely website, and very educational. Thanks for sharing with all of us. The Glen of Imaal Terrier is fascinating. Good luck with all the dogs.
I enjoyed your web-site, especially about the grooming of the cairns, it was very helpful information. Thankyou
I am currently looking for a Cairn Terrier, and I think I might have found one! She's a 6 month old rescued pup in my area. I'm so excited about getting my new puppy, I've been searching the web for as many resources as possible to help me when my new pup arrives. I found your site especially helpful, one of the best that I've seen... and I've seen plenty!
Kitty sent me the link to your web page. She has been my best friend for 26 years. Your web page is great! Your life is fascinating. I'm hoping to show and breed a female Staff I just purchased. I also want to try agility. It's all new to me but I've always loved dogs and hope that when my kids are older I can really get involved.
Great site. I stumbled across this by accident, and I'm delighted that I did. You have wonderful photos and information, and I'm thrilled that you don't peddle puppies online! Bravo! :)
I am very interested in getting an italian grayhound puppy. I had one in the past and miss her so much. Could you please contact me if you have any or where I could be able to find one. You can reach me at 212-410-5965. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you

This website SUCKS!!!! (just kidding) I think you should put more info on how they orginated and their personality traits. Play physcology. Get in the dogs mind!
Kjempe fin side :o)
I visit this site regularly to see what new items have been posted, there is always some snippet of information I can take away and use in connection with my cairn terrier Hamish. He will be three in July, he is a continuing source of absolute delight for me. Life wouldn't be the same without his happy and often cheeky out look on life !!!!
I like this page ferry much. I also have a cairn terrier named Robby and I live in Holland. Keep on with your work.
Greatings from Jennie
I love the poem, The Old Guy. Thank you for putting it on the website for all to enjoy! I lost my dog last November. She was almost 3. I know the grief from her death, and the joy from her life as well. Thanks again!
HI Guys,
Thought after the message we have been swaping back and forward that I would visit your site, it is fantastic. I love the pics of your hometown - wished I have visited when I was in the states last Dec -it looks very pretty. Now I know where to come if I want any info on Terrriers. Nikki
We have had our Cairn Terrier for 16 years. He has been the best dog I have ever had. Loyal, lovable, protective, all in one little package. His name is Max. Max has been blind now for 1 year. Other than that, he is in very good health. My wife makes his food supply once a month, measures the portions out to 1/4 cup each, wraps them up and puts them in the freezer. He gets one in the morning and the second at night. You can e-mail me for the recipe. I must say that after trying all sorts of dog food, plus suggestions from the Vet, this recipe no only keeps his weight down, but he hasn't had any skin problems since being on this homemade diet.

Hi Jerrie. Wow. What a great site. We came by to wish Teddy a Happy Birthday and have been here for ages taking the big tour of your home (lovely dogs, nice pool), your town (oh, the traffic!), and your area (can you say GREEN?). Everything is beautiful! We too are surrounded by farmlands, orchards and vineyards. You sure have had a long and interesting life in the doggie world. Congrats ... and all our best to Teddy on his big day. Arlene and Dillon

Excellent website - set up beautifully - I have visited several websites on breeders and I'd have to say yours is the BEST!
Beautiful website. I~m a breeder of Cairns for over 30 years in Holland. I love Cairns and like to talk about them and to share my love for them with others.Glad I`ve found your site. Will come back soon.
My wife and I have 2 Cairns. They are the loves of our lives! One is brindle, one wheaton. They are 2 years old. I have one question: Will they ever slow down? They are so hyper! Love your Webpage.
Heippa Jerrie!
Greetings from Finland! I just came to tell that Mille has become aunt ;) Mette got yesterday 5 puppies. 3 girls and 2 boys. Everything went well. Puppies are quite dark ones; dark and grey brindles. Have your Mille been is shows or make puppies yet? Greetings from No Copyright Cairns. Sassa
Hello,
I found your site by surfing a cairn terrier contact site in the Netherlands. You have got a beautifull site, what a lot of work you have put into it. I will sure be back to take a look at your site.
greetings, Henk Renes (cairn fiestas) NL.
WHAT A,WONDERFUL CAIRNS YOU HAVE
trainning- 6 week old puppy barking fighting
I loved your site. We have a Cairn, her AKC name is Molly Miss Demeanor. She is a real sweetie! We love her to death and she is so good with our 5 kids. Very gregarious and outgoing, full of fun and play all the time. We also have a mixed-breed dog, Stanley, who is mostly golden retriever and part Alsatian. Also a real sweetie but a real "dumb lug" (if you know what I mean). Anyways, they play constantly and are the best of friends. Molly is older and is his 'mother'. Even though Stanley is 5 times Molly's size, Molly is still the boss! Stanley can't get away w/ anything!
We do have a problem, though, with Molly. She keeps trying to get out of our yard, even though the entire yard is fenced in with stockade fencing, wire fencing, electronic fencing, etc. Nothing seems to help. She just wants to get out and play with the whole neighborhood. People, dogs, everyone and everything. She won't return when called home, even though she normally responds to all our commands successfully. What do we do? She is so smart and clever, she quickly learns how to overcome every way we think of to keep her at home. Short of building a prison wall around our home, we don't know what else to do.
Can you help? Any suggestions?
Keep up the good work. I'm only sorry I didn't find it sooner! Take care.

Your site is wonderful! My cairn, Taffy, was run over today but she was by far the most wonderful four-legged friend I ever had. There was something about the way she would cock her head to the side as if to say "What are you doing?" that never failed to bring a smile to my face. She was the most loved little dog in all of southern Saskatchewan. I know that I'll miss her from this day on. My family will no longer seem complete without her wet kisses to say "Good morning." There is absolutely no better family dog than a Cairn.
What a beautiful homepage, -both the dogs and the design! I am pleased to see that you have decided to buy "John-John". I have both offsprings, grand childrens and great grand childrens by him, and I am very pleased with them. They have done very well in the show ring as well as the fox hunting trials. Whish you luck! Lena
I thought this web page was very interesting because i am going into thought of getting a Cairn Terrier. I wanted a dog that was good at agility. And i think this will be the one! Keep up the good work!
I have a one year old cairn,Max and we visit your website regularly for tips and inspiration. Max hates being groomed but I will not give in .They are fantastic little dogs and enjoy every minute of every day with a delightful greeting for everyone they meet. We love your site and will visit again soon.
Enjoyed reading about you and your family. Your web site is very enlightening. I purchased one of your Cairn's in July 1997 for our family, mainly my husband & I. He is a very well bred and sweet dog, and puts up with a lot from me - he has been my savior since my husband past away over a year ago.
Hi!
I love your web site. I have a six month old, neutered male, cairn terrier -- his name is Owen and I love him very much.
I had him in what I thought was a puppy class (it was more of an obediance class) at the tender age of 8 weeks. Owen loved meeting other dogs but wasn't ready (and neither was I) to have his collar snapped, be forced to sit by my side etc. It was by luck that I discovered "clicker training." Owen thrives on this and so do I! I work with him every day, walk him twice a day and we (the husband) and I play with him all the time but I think he might do well with having a sister to play with. I am thinking about getting another cairn -- preferably a female of which I will neuter or perhaps another small breed. Any suggestions or insights that you can offer would be most appreciated.
Thank you.
Annie Lenahan

Hi, Just browsing through, looking for a breed I can have due to allergies. Can you tell me if the cairns are fine for allergy sufferers ? My poodle of 15yrs. just passed and he didn't seem to cause me problems. The cairns seem to be wonderful little dogs. It will be difficult to replace my old friend, but I think he would understand the lonliness without him at my side. Losing one is like losing a child. As an only dog how are they, since I can only have one where I live ? Would appreciate help in my chosing my next friend. Thanks,Dorothy in Redding , Calif.
very nice to see .I loved your website and enjoyed all of it.Thank you for letting us share your dogs for a time .sheila
I have had my Cairn Terrier puppy for a month now and have had SO much fun with him. I would recommend this breed to anyone.
I sent an email about 2 weeks and received no response and I am thinking because eventhought I am looking for a Cairn Terrier, I do not own one at the moment. I am having a great deal if difficulty in locating a breeder. There are only 2 in Canada and again, no response. I still like your website. It is very well put together with a lot of thought. Thank you again for your and my apologies to have bothered you.
Dear Mrs. Wolfe:
I am very interested in Cairn Terriers. My parents owned and raised Cairns when I was a young child. They had the good fortune of visiting Mrs. Stone (Caithness) in New Bedford, NY. They also benefited from the kindness of Jerri Jacobi. At one point, my parents owned several Topcairn Cairns.
My childhood companion, Topcairn Sparkler, is listed in one of the appendices of Betty Marcum's book, The New Cairn Terrier.
I would appreciate any advice you might be willing to offer me in my search for a show-quality female Cairn Terrier puppy. Could you talk to me a bit about the evolution of the breed and the impact of the English decision to change their standard? Many reputable breeders have told me that a Cairn that adheres to the U.S. standard for height and weight will have a difficult time winning points toward its championship. Others strongly disagree with this statement. They advise me to persevere in my search for a dog that comes close to the U.S. standard.
I have a close relative who is deaf and I am very interested in the use of Cairns as hearing ear dogs. The smaller size dogs would be easier for my niece to handle. In addition, I have been unable to find an articulation of the reason for the increase in the size of the breed beyond an assertion that a de facto change in the breed has taken place in spite of the 1938 U.S. standard. Mrs. Marcum's book leaves this issue to the discretion of individual breeders. As a breeder what are your feelings on the future of the breed?
One long-time breeder and Cairn fancier, wrote me a lengthy e-mail advocating "the Cairns of this new century." What is a novice to think?
My purpose in asking these questions is not to offend the advocates of larger dogs but rather to educate myself.
Many thanks!
Sincerely,
Sean Schenectady, NY

I just bought a red puppy from Molly Wilder out of Ch. Rose Croft Best Laid Plans and was looking for a picture of him. This is my first red but have had at least one female Cairn as a pet since I was 12 years old (1962). Needless to say I love the Cairn.

Thanks to you for loving cairns. I am french and I don't speak english well. But I love english terriers. So, I own a cairn-terrier Loustic (male of 5 years old) and a border terrier Ponette(female of 2 years). Both of them enjoy with agility. I'll visit again your site, because it's interesting . I would like to exchange with others terriers owners, who practice agility. Good bye
Thanks Jerrie for taking so much of your time with us this evening - we are very interested in your up coming litter. Regards, Tad Winans Reno - 775-337-1383
I am doing research on small breed dogs to find which one would be best for our family, and the more I read about Cairns the more I love them. I truely think that I have found the breed for us. Thanks for having such an informative site, it has turely helped me! Jennifer
nice website. i have just lost my cairn he was thirteen years old.i hope to get another one soon . i have had cairns for fifty two years.
Thank you very much for the information on grooming a cairn terrier.I had heard about stripping the coat but I wasn't too sure how to go about it or why it is so important.Trixie is now 7 months old and has never been groomed properly.I hope it's not too late to start as I'm sure she wont be impressed!!!Again thanks for a most informative site.
We just lost our beloved Skye due to kidney failure on June 15/01. We are picking up another one from the same breeder this week who is descended on both sides from our Skye.
my girlfriend and I have a 6month old puppy named Sebastian. He really has not had any professional trainning and we really don't have the money for it. He is chewing on everything besides his toys and has fequent accidents. We both have different schedules and Sebastian is left alone for a few hours a day, is there any tips to help our situation?
I am very impressed with the standard of your Jrts
An impressive site. Will revisit when I have more time. Liked 'Spike' best.
Dear Jerrie,
I think that your website is great and you have some really good and helpful information on it. You have some good points when it comes to why you should groom Cairns. Your Cairns are very nice and good luck with them and all of your other dogs.
This is a great site!! I found some information here that I havent been able to find elsewhere. Congrats!!
My dog is a huge dog! He is over weight and everyone calls him a bear Tucker (my dog) is a loyal companian and protects the family very well. If anyone in the family is in dangerous he will come to the rescue immediatly!
I have a 20 mth Italian Spinoni and recently rescued a Briard. The Briard has at times been difficult to manage and assess his past. However we know we have done the right thing. I often read rescue stories, it restores my faith in humanity. It's not always easy is it, but we have to help our innocent four legged friends where ever and however we can. Keep up the good work guys. Alison
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to your site. Thanks for all the info on grooming - an excellent reminder of why we do what we do! Your Graham reminds me of my Amanda as a puppy - too cute not to bring home. Michelle and Amanda

I just love this.
Dear Jerri, I just got all your info on puppies. You have lots of good stuff there. Thanks, Tad Winans
Thanks,Jerrie Wolfe, Really enjoy your web pages on Cairn information! Our first Cairn,Meggie, lived to the ripe old age of 16 years-3 months and. after 1 month without, we did our research and found a wonderful replacement who we call Jamie, who is a very handsome fellow with a wonderful disposition. (We got him from Cairnmoor Kennels in Canfield, Ontario from Edith Skellet). Our breeder got us to go to a Cairn terrier outing here in southern Ontario so we were able to see how Cairn terriers should look and how they should be groomed and maintained. In that regard, found "The Whys Of Grooming"to be great reference information which should help me to keep our Cairn looking well groomed through the years. Many Thanks Hal Ellison
What a wonderful site Jerrie! Full of useful information, especially helpful for grooming. I have learned a great deal, thank you for sharing. Lauri

Terrific website. i have never seen a Glen of Imaal terrier in BC (Canada). Do you have any ideas as to why they are so rare? Are they as tenacious and outrageous as Jack Russell's (my 8 year old is still in constant ball catching motion)
Hi! Very nice website! And all the pictures of the dogs! Very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!
NONE
I read about Glens in a Dog World article and have been curious about them ever since. I currently have Bearded Collies and am very active with them; I have herding instinct certificates, algility titles and a confirmation title on my dog and am currently working on an Obedience title. In reading abount the Glens, they sounded like a terrier I could maybe workwith. Someday I hope to meet one. If there are Glens in the Pacific Northwest please pass my email address on to them.
I have recently become interested in the Glen of Imaal's. In fact, i've put down a deposit with Ara Lynn. We are all extremely excited. I currently have two labs. thanks for the informational website.
I owned a Cairn Terrier when I live in Scotland several years ago. Now I am in the process of getting a Cairn for my Grandson who lives with us. I don't know who is more excieted, my Grandson or myself. I have been very impressed with the people that I have been in contact with to find a good puppy.

I am seriously considering getting a Cairn Teerier, I am in London UK, I was fascinated by your home page, excellently laid out, and a joy to read thank you.
What a wonderful website! I am totally impressed with the wealth of information and knowledge you share here. Keep up the great work!
I loved your page showing how dramatically a cairns color can change. My husband and I recently got our first Cairn (we also have two westies) and although I had heard how hard it is to predict their color as an adult I didn't realize just how much they could change or how it can change after several years. Thanks for the info! Sincerely, Lisa Thompson & Duncan ^..^
I am the proud mother of Brody (2 yrs) and Molly (4 yrs). I got Molly in Nov '01 as a rescue from a puppy mill in north Fla. She is so sweet and full of personality. It was a little rocky at first, but now they get along great. Brody is quite a bit larger than she is, but he is so careful when they play together. They make me laugh every day and I love them dearly. It was your website that made me consider getting a rescue and I'm so glad I did. Thanks for all the good information and insights into the breed -- keep up the good work!
Your site is very nice. My Eva is very similar to your irish male. Have a look on my site
