For the second year in a row, the Fairfield County Diving Association's Barnacles team from Fairfield County won the Connecticut State Underwater Hockey Championship, and claimed the Norm Tetrault Memorial Trophy in a tournament sponsored by the Connecticut Council of Diving Clubs held at Eastern Connecticut State College in Willimantic in February 1982.

The Fairfield team emerged victorious against the Gillmen Club of the Hartford Y.M.C.A., SECONN (South East Conn. Divers), the NAVY team from Croton Submarine Base, and the home team from Eastern Connecticut State College.

The Fairfield team went on to represent the state of Connecticut and the Connecticut Council of Diving Clubs at the National Underwater Hockey Tournament held in Chicago on May 15-16, 1982.
