| James Vance Kelso, son of Jonathon D. Kelso and Elizabeth
White Kelso, was a lawyer, newspaper owner, county and city attorney, Major in the Civil
War, and died in New Albany, IN on April 14, 1902. He married Ellen Shearer on June 8,
1856 and had 11 children. One child, Mary M. Kelso (1858-1883) was the great grandmother
