chapter four

"The decrease in size, from Ralph down, was gradual"  (Golding, 59).  Ralph, the leader, is one of the most known people on the island.  When you are trying to describe something to some one, you do it in a way that they will under stand.  By using familiar thing to explain something to people it will incredibly assist you.  Plus I also believe that this is showing that thier is not much differences between the islanders.                               (after all they're just kids)

"Ralph stood, one hand holding back his hair, the other clenched." (Golding, 66).  I love the visual imagery here.  The hands represent the two urges he is having.  The hand that Holds back his hair is showing that what ever is happening he must keep his image good.  The second hand that clinches is illustrating his urge of anger and unsteady will to do actions with out thought.
