and experience it struggle as he kills it."Ralph was annoyed and for the moment, defeated."(Golding, 37). He is angry that
he has experienced defeat. But the line for the moment show that it will be short lived victory for the one who defeated him.
"Ralph shouted at him."(Golding,40). Ralph started to cannibalize the style of Jacks leadership. Now he has started to make
others feel void by speaking over them to attempt to show authority."Ralph elbowed him...."(Golding, 40). Ralph has sunk to
a new low by using violence to show his superiority and is now viciously attacking other islanders as if they were no significance.
"Ralph licked his pale lips." (Golding, 46). I believe that Ralph is oing to die and the author is foreshadowing the horrific
event in this line showing that he will die from starvation.
