If Billy Tallent were a songwriter....

If Billy were a songwriter, what songs might he have written?  I've been thinking about this for a long time.  I guess it started about the first time I really listened to "Rearranged" by Limp Bizkit (whom I usually don't really like), because I could totally hear Billy saying all that stuff about/to Joe. And when I listened to Treble Charger's "Wear Me Down" and realized that sounded like Billy too, I got motivated enough to type them up--along with some others that seemed to fit.

This list is by no means complete.  Just the tip of the iceberg probably.

So enjoy...

Wear Me Down

Say something clever
If you're conscious still
'Cause you know hearing bad news
Gives me such a special thrill

And I'm not here to save you
Watch your back or rearrange you
I don't know even so
I wouldn't take on this oh no

And I don't know how
You can wear me down
In the blink of an eye
If I could just hold my ground
For a tenth of the time

Make me an offer
I can't really use
A one time factory clearance that I can't refuse
And I'm not here to save you
Watch your back
Or rearrange you
And nothing ever changes
You're still cynical and dangerous
I don't know even so
I wouldn't take on you oh no

And I don't know how you can
Wear me down
In the blink of an eye
If I could just hold my ground
Even half of the time

You never get the point so what's the use
I'd never take that tone of voice with you
But we both know that's not really true
It's not really true
So what's the use

No one's going to save you
'Cause they can't rearrange you
And nothing ever changes
You're cynical and dangerous
Now you just wear me down
In the blink of an eye
If I could just hold my ground
For a tenth of the time

So go ahead
Wear me down
I'm lost not found
You got me so tied and bound
I'm not quite sound
You're wearing me down
Quit wearing me down

Would?

Know me broken by my master
Teach thee on child of love hereafter

Into the flood again
Same old trip it was back then
So I made a big mistake
Try to see it once my way

Drifting body it's sole desertion
Flying not yet quite the notion

Into the flood again
Same old trip it was back then
So I made a big mistake
Try to see it once my way

Into the flood again
Same old trip it was back then
So I made a big mistake
Try to see it once my way

Am I wrong?
Have I run too far to get home?
Have I gone?
And left you here alone
Am I wrong?
Have I run too far to get home?
Have I gone?
And left you here alone
If I would, could you?

Re-arranged

Lately I've been skeptical
Silent when I would used to speak
Distant from all around me
Who witness me fail and become weak
Life is overwhelming
Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
I'd love to be the one to disappoint you
When I don't fall down.

But you don't understand when
I'm attempting to explain
Because you know it all
And I guess things will never change
But you might need my hand when
Falling in your hole
Your disposition I'll remember
When I'm letting go of...
You and me
We're through and rearranged.

It seems that you're not satisfied.
There's too much on your mind
So you leave and I can't believe
All the bullshit that I find
Life is overwhelming.
Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
I'd love to be the one to disappoint you
When I don't fall down

You're no good for me
Thank God it's over
You make believe that nothing is wrong
Until you're cryin'
You make believe life is so long
Until you're dyin'
You make believe that nothing is wrong
Until you're cryin', cryin' on me
You make believe that life is so long
Until you're dyin', dyin' on me!!
You think everybody is the same.
I don't think that anybody is like you.
(You ruin everything and you kept fuckin' with me until its over and I won't be the same)

No Excuses

It's all right
There comes a time
Got no patience to search
For peace of mind
Layin' low
Want to take it slow
No more hiding or
Disguising truths I've sold

Everyday it's something
Hits me all so cold
Find me sittin' by myself
No excuses, then I know

It's okay
Had a bad day
Hands are bruised from
Breaking rocks all day
Drained and blue
I bleed for you
You think it's funny, well
You're drowning in it too

Everyday it's something
Hits me all so cold
Find me sittin' by myself
No excuses, then I know

Yeah, it's fine
We'll walk down the line
Leave our rain, a cold
Trade for warm sunshine
You my friend
I will defend
And if we change, well I
Love you anyway

Everyday it's something
Hits me all so cold
Find me sittin' by myself
No excuses, then I know

Hollowman

Maybe I'm phony, baby
Just like you
Maybe I'm lonely and you're something to do
Something to do

Maybe I'm broken and I can't be fixed
Misunderstood, misguided, misfit
I'm it
Oh, is there no way out
Oh, is there no way out
Oh is there no way out
I am, I am, I am
Hollowman
Down again

It's the end of the world
All that we had
Everything good is now turning bad
Now turning bad
Maybe it's tragic
Maybe it's shit
Bitter and twisted you make me feel sick
You make me feel sick
