The largemouth bass are species of predatory sunfish. Their preferred habitat is mostly quiet, shallow streams and lakes offering substantial vegetation.

The bass' diet includes anything alive and moving. The bass grabs large prey and turns it so it is swallowed head first.
Following mating, parents dig small pits in the lake floor. The female deposits eggs in the holes. The male guards the eggs through the hatching process until the young are about 1 inch long. There are no external differences in male and female bass. Both sexes become aggressive during mating season, which extends throughout spring into early summer. Bass breed easily and offspring become numerous.
